Job Description
The Digital Commerce Experience (DCE) Team is responsible for the tools and platforms underlying Nordstrom's Digital Customer Experiences. Our team supports the Design Language System, Modern Web Platform, Site Performance toolsets, A/B Experimentation tooling, the Content Management System, Photo Studio & Digital Asset Platforms, Marketing tooling and more. We are the core technologists managing delivery and oversight of platform wide capabilities that empower hundreds of engineers and business users who build digital experiences for Nordstrom's customers. We create solutions and resolve issues with an eye toward continuous improvement of platform wide capabilities with far ranging benefits.
We are seeking a Manager of Technical Program Managers (TPM) to lead, develop, coach and mentor a team of 6 TPMs who are responsible for delivering on the DCE Portfolio Roadmap. In this role, you will have the opportunity to impact both the business and technical strategy, with the possibility of fundamentally changing Nordstrom's core business. You will work towards bringing program clarity, influencing across teams and will act autonomously to define, own, and drive results. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of project and program management experience leading large cross-functional software development projects from definition to launch as well as experience supporting TPMs to successful outcomes for their programs and achievement of their individual career ambitions.
A day in the life...
  • Hire, develop, retain, and grow TPM talent in your team
  • Partner with your peers to develop and strengthen organizational TPM practices and career path development for TPM's
  • Lead cross-functional stakeholders from engineers to executives to align on objectives, key results, and organizational roadmaps that facilitative achievement of goals
  • End to end ownership of cross-functional initiatives, including product definition, roadmap planning, requirements definition, resource planning, risk management, communication and implementation planning with your TPM team
  • Identify and implement changes that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of software delivery for teams at an organizational level
  • Leverage the insight of your TPM team to identify and solve problems, remove roadblocks, identify innovative solutions and resolve issues through consensus and sound judgement
  • Responsible for escalating and making program recommendations that achieve tactical goals while retaining a strategic focus
  • Instill a strong culture of accountability and data-driven decision-making practices that allow for smart trade-offs
  • Exhibit exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions

You own this if you have...
  • 5+ years of Technical Program Management, Engineering Leadership, or a related field experience
  • 2+ years of experience in managing people, growing teams, and developing a team culture
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or closely related degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Consistent track record of shipping products at scale, with customer impact
  • Thrive amid ambiguity, able to influence peers, leaders, and teams toward a shared vision
  • System thinker, with a quantitative approach to problem solving
  • Customer obsessed with strong focus on execution, follow-through, and delivering results
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve systemic issues in both software and people systems
  • Deep understanding of experimentation, comfortable with prototyping and rapid iteration
  • Strong sense of servant leadership and emotional intelligence, with a growth mentality
  • Technology background, especially in a service-oriented environment with a deep understanding of software development and e-commerce products
  • Proven understanding of the fundamentals of agile processes, deep knowledge of software development lifecycle
