About the job
Red Hat's Products and Technologies (PnT) Program Management Office (PMO) is looking for an experienced Manager to join our global team. In this role, you will manage day-to-day activities in the PMO to ensure that programs and projects meet organizational goals and objectives. You will provide guidance related to program and project management and business analysis processes, tools, and techniques and you will oversee the work of our associates. You will implement policies and work with other team leaders to define, prioritize, and develop programs that will address business needs. As a Manager, you will ensure that our portfolio of programs is meeting deadlines, within scope and budget, and you'll work closely with associates to elevate their performance and develop their skills. You will have responsibility for hiring, personnel changes, and budgeting for your team, working closely with the head of the PMO. Additionally, you will be expected to communicate frequently with leadership at all levels to provide updates on PMO priorities in alignment with their department and you will assess changes in business direction to inform PMO associates how to prioritize their work. You'll need to have demonstrated portfolio management experience. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Manage day-to-day activities of associates and direct or delegate activities as appropriate; coach, mentor, and motivate associates
  • Effectively manage multiple project and program managers and business analysts across a variety of key initiatives and programs
  • Manage a portfolio of complex programs and initiatives for the business
  • Work with the PMO leadership to establish best practices, define processes, policies, and guidance to expand and mature capabilities for the organization
  • Refine intake strategy and prioritization framework to ensure that we are solving the right problems in the right order to achieve the highest value and impact to business
  • Navigate the complexities of both agile and waterfall work environments; inspire decisions, achieve results, and guide assigned teams through successful completion of programs and projects
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs
  • Cultivate trusted adviser relationship with project and program stakeholders, sponsors, leadership and key partners and help shape decisions to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Demonstrate functional insight to support how solutions will address goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • Be accountable for ensuring that programs under your purview are aligned with and directly support the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Ensure that programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards and oversee risk and issue resolution


What you will bring

  • MBA or bachelor's degree in a related field and related certifications like Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience working in a management role
  • 10+ years of experience managing programs, both technical and business-oriented
  • Record of developing solid, successful, and collaborative multicultural, multidisciplinary teams
  • Outstanding leadership, strategy, and facilitation skills; solid interpersonal skills and analytical abilities
  • Ability to establish a solid network across the organization, as well as a broad spectrum of internal partners
  • Embrace and embody Red Hat's cultural norms; be a reflection of inclusivity, meritocracy, accountability, and collaboration in a high-speed environment
