About the job
The Red Hat CFO Project Management Office (PMO) is looking for a Junior Project Manager for internal team or department projects to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will deliver low complexity projects under the guidance of a seasoned project manager. Your responsibilities will include managing projects at a foundational level, managing schedules, maintaining risks and issues, completing status reports, and closeout activities.
What you will do

  • Support PMO by managing projects with a low complexity or impact
  • Seek guidance from senior team members to comprehend and understand overall initiatives and activities
  • Actively manage internal team or department projects to successful completion from initiation through delivery and closure
  • Facilitate meetings to seek consensus and alignment to focus on delivery of necessary scope
  • Create status reports and other project related communication, including project plans, presentations, emails, and meeting agendas
  • Manage project tasks and deliverables to deadlines
  • Troubleshoot problems and seek resolution with project stakeholders and team leaders, escalate when necessary
  • Facilitate communication with stakeholders to ensure deliverables are meeting or exceeding expectations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and project team to create a project plan to deliver the requested scope of work
  • Report on the project's status and tracking to the overall timeline, cost, and scope delivery
  • Assist with stakeholder identification, team updates, meetings, Go/No Go decisions
  • Create and maintain project artifacts from templates, e.g., plan, change requests
  • Proactively raise risks and issues that can or will impact the project's delivery
  • Engage with change management and communication to incorporate necessary tasks
  • Promote a collaborative environment so that all parties can have their say
  • Create documentation for a project, (plan, RAID, notes, etc.)
  • Schedule, monitor, and assess progress or tasks so work can be completed
  • Facilitate the identification and mitigation of project risks through collaboration
  • Actively identify problems and champion for resolution through collaboration and discussion


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience or 1+ year(s) of project management experience
  • Basic understanding of project management concepts and tools
  • Ability to apply knowledge to develop project plans, documentation, and facilitate project meetings
  • Experience in facilitating meetings, seeking consensus, and understanding of deliverables
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid presentation skills
  • Understanding of conflict resolution skills and change management skills
  • Experience with office applications and project management tools (e.g., Google Suite and Smartsheet)
  • Experience with relationship building with team members and stakeholders
  • Understanding of industry standard project management practices and concepts
  • Understanding of vital business operations, tools, and processes to determine project impacts, risks, or issues
  • Understanding of the importance of project control through cost, schedule, scope, and stakeholder management
