Joining Collibra's Legal team:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced information governance professional who is interested in joining Collibra’s world class legal team. This role will be hands-on working with business teams to ensure that data is managed, secure, accurate, audited, and documented in terms of where information is stored, how access is managed, and how teams comply with data retention/disposition requirements. You will help develop strategy and lead operations for information governance management, data protection, data classification, records management, information governance training, as well as oversee the integration of new technologies and initiatives and developing data standards to support scalable growth. The Information Governance Program Lead will evaluate information governance compliance and ensure alignment with related policies and procedures. This includes monitoring and enforcement of records management, retention and disposal policies as well as management of security breach incidents.

As a data governance and intelligence company, Collibra values strong information governance practices, and the Collibra legal team is building a world class, cross-functional information governance program to support this value.  The Information Governance Program Lead will help design, implement, and manage organizational policies and processes that control how data is managed in the organization


The Information Governance Program Lead at Collibra is responsible for:

  • Establishing an information management and protection framework for an effective enterprise-wide information governance program and direct day-to-day activities, including program objectives, policies, procedures, training and communication. 
  • Developing methods for demonstrating success through metrics, key performance indicators, audit and compliance monitoring systems and third-party assessments.
  • Developing employee communications, quick reference guides, and training content for, and subsequent deployment methods to targeted audiences to support effective change management regarding key information governance initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Collibra Data Office to build out aspects of the information governance program within Collibra’s own Collibra Platform.
  • Coordinating a company-wide risk assessment process to identify potential risks and control solutions. 
  • Creating internal partnerships with key stakeholders to influence and align business-area actions that are needed to achieve program objectives. 
  • Proactively anticipating and directing program changes to support continued compliance with the evolving information management and data protection landscape and furtherance of company objectives


You Have:

  • BA/BS degree in business or related field, or a combination of education and related experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • At least 5 years relevant experience in information governance, information lifecycle management, compliance, legal, privacy, information security, or related areas.
  • Broad information governance experience, including in the areas of personal information, company information, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success in high quality execution of large scale enterprise operational initiatives and related IG, risk and technology programs
  • Experience collaborating with legal teams and privacy professionals and an understanding of the data privacy and additional regulatory requirements driving information governance initiatives.
  • A service-oriented mentality with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong interest and capability in collaborating with both legal and non-legal colleagues.

Preferred:

  • Professional certifications in various technical areas related to IG are preferred but not required (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, Information Governance Professional (IGP), Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Electronic Records Management (ERM))
  • A strong understanding of Agile development methodologies (a passion for driving Agile is a plus) and process management discipline (e.g. six sigma, LEAN, other)

  • Able to work with a broad cross-section of business teams collaboratively to support organizational objectives while helping business teams meet their individual business goals

Reporting to Collibra's Senior Privacy and Information Governance Counsel, Information Governance Program Lead's measures of success are:

  • Within your first month, you will familiarize yourself with Collibra’s operations, business teams, and operating environment 
  • Within your third month, you will provide operational support for records retention program, data classification, incident response plan enhancement, and begin formulating a framework for enterprise programs around information governance and data standards 
  • Within your sixth month, you will provide support on long-term strategic program building, as well as audit of existing policies and general workforce training and change management.
