About the job
The Red Hat Global Services Consulting team is looking for a Global Resource Manager to join us in the U.S. In this role, you will help lead regional Resource Management Offices (RMOs) and enable project staffing in the global regions. You'll develop a working knowledge of Red Hat's solutions and Red Hat's consulting offerings. You'll work within a team of resource managers, and partners of various technology focuses and experience. As a Global Resource Manager, you will ensure staffing for projects, serving as the point of contact for all consulting staffing requests into and out of assigned regions, ensuring proper alignment of resources to contracted requests. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Build out a future state global RMO operating model
  • Establish and facilitate a global RMO forum with regional RMO leaders to resolve global demand and supply of resources to deliver on consulting contracts
  • Establish a global view of resources, identify trends to enable forecasting, and proactive capacity planning
  • Manage escalations by working with regional RMO and territory managers and regional directors to solve staffing challenges; work with delivery management associates and customers to propose and implement resolution plans
  • Assess partner strategy for all regions and identify opportunities for further strategic alignment
  • Track and ensure that all skill inventories are accurate and up-to-date for associate and contractor resources that are used on Red Hat's projects; report on global and regional performance
  • Work with consultants and people managers to ensure that consultants are maintaining development courses and that employees are meeting quarterly and annual training requirements
  • Work with consultants and people managers to ensure that utilization targets are met or exceeded for all consulting employees, regional teams, practices, and the Geo Consulting teams as a whole
  • Assist with forecasted utilization metrics, reporting on utilization actuals, and ensure that revenue is maximized by staffing requests in a timely manner while focusing on project-level key performance indicators (KPIs) for various associates and groups; monitor regional RMO associate performance to provide timely staffing plans
  • Work within the regional RMO to provide capacity planning and all reporting in alignment with agreed upon timescales and highlight issues to the business based on this data
  • Work with regional leaders to ensure all resource assignment information is accurate and up-to-date in Oracle HRIS, consulting Professional Services Automation (PSA - FinancialForce) system, Salesforce.com (SFDC), and Oracle Project Accounting and other systems as needed


What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of resourcing or staffing experience in a technical professional services environment
  • 2+ years of people management experience; ability to effectively manage in a matrixed environment
  • Excellent relationship management and persuasion and negotiation skills in a global environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to function on your own as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail and process-oriented with good strategic thinking skills
  • Knowledge of or ability to understand the technical consulting business and industry
  • Ability to work well within a team and provide and receive feedback in a constructive manner
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google sheets and have a working knowledge of reporting pivot tables and statistical analysis
  • Ability to build consensus and adherence to new corporate practices in a matrixed management environment
  • Familiarity with professional services automation tools, and any business intelligence (BI) platform; experience with FinancialForce is a plus
