Role Summary
The Global Program Manager (GPM) is a highly visible Exteriors position assigned to the highest risk programs. The GPM is responsible for coordinating across Exteriors' divisions, functions, and product lines to ensure customer satisfaction and flawless launches. This role oversees the health of the overall program(s), making sure that the Product Delivery Process (PDP) is faithfully executed and sourcing additional support resources when necessary. As a senior-level interface with the customer, the GPM is involved in assessing risks, identifying potential conflicts, developing solutions, aligning Magna stakeholders and ensuring a cohesive customer response. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong problem solving skills, the ability to build effective working relationships and program teams, negotiation, and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the flow of assigned program(s) ensuring development milestones, program cost and timing targets are achieved; acts as the single point contact to Magna or customer when required.
- Partners with regional program management and divisional operations to identify problems and develop integrated Magna responses to program-related issues and customer concerns.
- Provides on-the-ground support to divisional launch teams, as needed, to meet technical and operational expectations.
- Shares one's deep understanding of the Product Delivery Process; provides practical guidance on APQP requirements, gate reviews, launch readiness audits, burst builds, and run-at-rate.
- Subject-matter-expert on the customer; understands and translates customer specific terminology, KPIs, and business practices into Magna processes.
- Serves as an escalation point of contact for the customer.
- Coaches divisional program management teams to make sure local practices meet or exceed functional expectations (e.g., program timing, financial reporting, issue resolution).
- Facilitates knowledge transfer and the adoption of best practices across divisions, regions, product lines and customers.
- Communicates program metrics to Magna senior management, ensuring critical decision makers are aware of the project status, and understand the risks and opportunities where appropriate.
- Provides strategic input into business development and quoting process.
- Tracks and monitors customer requests for advanced technologies.

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of Product Delivery Process and tools.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining strong working relationships at all levels of the organization (operators-to-senior leaders).
- Established ability to influence decision making/outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and customers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; must be able to effectively convey ideas one-on-one, with program teams, and in front of larger audiences.
- English proficiency; ability to communicate in the language of the assigned customer a plus.
- Knowledge of customer quoting and commercial procedures.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Moderate-to-advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Experience
- Twelve (12) years of work experience in the automotive or similar industry.
- Seven (7) years of Program Management work experience with evidence of increasing program scope and complexity.
- Five (5) years customer management and sales experience; OEM support preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing operations is desirable.
- Previous experience in development & application of FMEA's.
- Leadership experience in a matrix organization preferred.
Additional Information
- Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require local, domestic and international travel.
