OptumCare has an exciting opportunity to join the Epic National team as an Principal Project Program Manager. This is a high impact role that provide an opportunity to leverage a full spectrum of knowledge and skills as part of one of the largest Epic EMR implementations on the planet (projected to impact over 94 million lives annually).
The Principal Project Program Manager is responsible for leading our operational groups and end users through the implementation of new Epic Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record systems (EMRs). Projects include Community Connect projects, new service area onboarding, and addition of new Epic modules.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages project status, timelines, budget, and risks/issues by effectively communicating to leadership at all levels, including Senior Leadership Team / Executive Steering
  • Leads communications and acts as the main project liaison between Epic, internal IT, and Operations
  • Ensures that appropriate project health monitoring tools are implemented and utilized
  • Works with project team to ensure efficient workflow design, system build, and optimization of clinical and revenue cycle systems to best serve our end users and patients
  • Adheres to project management best practices and standard

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of overall project/program management experience
  • 3+ years of project management experience involving the deployment of Epic ambulatory
  • Experience with healthcare applications specifically in ambulatory and ancillary settings
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination, and boosters when applicable, prior to employment to ensure compliance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Epic certification or proficiency in any of the applications either active or expired (e.g. EpicCare Ambulatory, Professional Billing, etc.)
  • PMP certification
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
