ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Firmware Engineering Project Manager will support the firmware development workstreams, as well as help with cross functional requirements gathering and workstream tracking for internal customers of firmware. This role will be responsible for ensuring that firmware deliverables are tracked and scheduled according to priority and delivery date, and for helping identify gaps, and organizing meetings to align on solutions.

EPMs at JUUL are highly collaborative: we work across all functions and leadership levels to formulate and execute project plans, risk mitigation activities, strategic product plans, and continuous improvement activities. The ideal candidate will either have experience working within or with firmware teams, or have a strong aptitude and willingness to learn firmware concepts such that they can be a first line of contact to the engineering team, and inform those discussions at an appropriate level. Additionally, the candidate will need to be flexible and respond quickly, energetically, and enthusiastically to changes in priorities, timelines, and project scope, while providing thoughtful recommendations to program managers and senior leadership. Additionally, the candidate 

  • Maintain frequent cross functional communication with the Firmware team and our internal customers
  • Create and maintain project schedules (2-4 projects at any time)
  • Demonstrate cross-functional organization, communication, and management
  • Create meetings and document action items and progress, including sending meeting minutes and enabling cross functional alignment activities.
  • Willingness to travel to various Bay Area locations, including Mountain View and San Francisco. Occasional overseas travel, particularly to China may also be required.
  • Report and present to senior management on project status and schedules
  • Support the Product Lifecycle Management process for new products from research and development to manufacturing scaleup and product launch.
  • Follow JUUL Labs’ design control and documentation procedures (experience with controlled document management processes in the medical device or pharmaceuticals fields is helpful)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of project or program management, product development, continuous improvement, or similar experience.
  • A track record of strong cross functional communication skills
  • A strong initiative to driving projects to completion independently
  • Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering related field
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb lots of deeply technical information, and use that knowledge to inform high-level discussions with other teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with firmware engineering teams, or in an environment with a firmware controlled product/solution
  • Experience working with cross functionally with multiple engineering disciplines
  • Experience developing product in a FDA regulated consumer product industry
  • Understanding of quality systems, documentation, and design control in a regulated industry
