Director of Technical Program Management

Stitch Fix is transforming the way people find what they love. Our technology teams have created unique, innovative software for customers, merchandising, styling, warehouse systems, and inventory management. We leverage customer data and user research to personalize our service and make smart bets. The result is a powerful offering to our customers and a successful business serving millions of men, women, and kids.

We're looking for an experienced Director of Technical Program Management to build and lead a global team of Technical Program Managers (TPMs) that will drive program execution for our technology team. You will own a portfolio of key technology initiatives that are at the forefront of our strategic initiatives to expand, evolve and engage our clients and our vendors in new ways. You will be closely working with product, engineering, design and data-science teams to deliver solutions with efficient use of resources and technology. At every milestone, you will help facilitate conversations that help the business assess risk, anticipate bottlenecks, recommend trade-offs and continue to highlight opportunities that balance business needs vs technical constraints. If you enjoy solving problems in a dynamic environment and influencing business and technical leaders with your creative solutions, we want to hear from you!

What You Will Do

  • Build, lead and mentor a team of Technical Program Managers creating an environment of teamwork, trust, and mutual success
  • Initiate, drive, and evangelize a vision for the Technical Program Management function within Stitch Fix.
  • Deeply understand business and technical strategy to proactively identify high-impact programs
  • Support technical aspects of critical initiatives including contributing to product design and implementation planning, working with the team to set priority and tracking progress, and working cross functionally to ensure implementation scope and delivery times are aligned with product requirements and expectations.
  • Develop KPIs to measure effectiveness of programs and establish frameworks using program management principles that foster high quality, metrics-driven program delivery
  • Partner with product, engineering, design and data science teams to drive alignment, prioritization and  critical decisioning with internal partners and stakeholders
  • Navigate diverse stakeholder groups, forming and sustaining trusted relationships
  • Use strong technical and business acumen to identify and resolve risks and dependencies that would prevent successful program execution
  • Influence leaders and teams to effect change across the technology organization.
  • Be an evangelist for the team and overall culture, both internally and externally.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience in software.
  • 3+ years of experience as a People Manager.  Global team experience is a plus.
  • You are an experienced leader, able to guide teams and executives through complex data-driven decisions
  • Experience communicating behind program architectures, including how and why they were run, and the systems put in place to run them.
  • Knowledge in technical program management methodologies, experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.
  • Experience moving technical or engineering programs from concept to completion and experience articulating the impact using metrics, growth examples, and return.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, and worked on areas with emphasis on Reliability, Efficiency and Scalability.
  • Experience identifying metrics, and using instrumentation to monitor products and systems.
  • Good balance of IQ & EQ to be able to solve both technical and social challenges
  • Set an example to others in terms of growth mindset and being solution-oriented
