Role Overview

InStride is seeking a Director, Project Management who will be responsible for developing and leading the Project Management function, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. The Project Management function provides oversight, support, and coordination across implementation, learner engagement, academic partnerships, and product/technology to ensure successful delivery. This is a critical leadership role to support trade-offs, capacity planning, and transparency and requires strong cross-department collaboration, deep project management expertise, and a passion for driving process and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the Project Management function including role definition, role assignments, resource management, recruiting
- Establish and refine project management methodology, policies, procedures, and systems/tools across external and internal projects
- Lead team in the definition of a detailed project schedule; holds the team accountable for delivering their commitments on time and on budget and raises concerns accordingly
- Coordinate projects across functional areas and understand dependencies and risks (e.g., between corporate partner implementation and product releases)
- Provide ongoing visibility to project status to Executives, leadership, and other internal or external partners and support decision making/trade-offs
- Identify potential bottlenecks and facilitate risk mitigation and issue resolution action plans as needed
- Adopts the appropriate industry methodology to suit InStride's functional needs
- Build a team of strong project managers across technology, product, implementation with a culture of continuous improvement
Ideal Profile
- 7+ years of digital project management experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- Proven track record of building a strong project management team/function in product and technology
- Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), Agile, SCRUM, SAFe certifications strongly preferred
- Experience in managing product and technology development and releases, customer launches, and cross-functional initiatives
- Ability to quickly and effectively build relationships based on trust
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and often changing environment
- Ability to dig into project details and take a step back to identify cross-project dependencies and opportunities
- Proven knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience collaborating with executive and senior-level management
- Excellent drive and initiative, and sense of personal accountability
