Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 15 years of demonstrated leadership; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 13 years of demonstrated leadership.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Director, Program Management to enable General Dynamics to position to lead and execute a set of complex space-based programs ranging from full mission systems to major payload and subsystem development. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

General Dynamics is looking for an experienced leader with a history of developing positive customer relationships by working shoulder to shoulder with customers to deliver space-based electronics with focus on full mission payload development and manufacturing. This individual will have a track record of developing relationships with not only the customer but also the leaders of the internal organizations as well as working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain. The candidate will need to have demonstrated experience managing the design, manufacturing and on orbit support of highly reliable systems. The candidate must also have demonstrated background in working with multiple subcontracts as well as working with cutting edge electronic component providers. Knowledge of space-based electronics manufacturing techniques and well as test and evaluation processes and requirements are necessary.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Prepares and presents program/product status to leadership and external customers. Participates and leads the development/execution of strategies, to improve the competitiveness of the organization through actions such as professional growth & development, strategic hiring, strategic partnering, and acquisitions Manages people who lead department or cross-functional program teams in matrix organization to achieve schedule, cost, and technical performance objectives.
    Develops & implements program and business segment, roadmaps, and cohesive integrated plans for portfolio to meet business and program objectives relating to revenue, margin, quality, and time-to-market
  • Develops customer relationships and new business within the market/program
  • Develops, defines, and executes project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Interfaces with customers on technical matters regarding program/products and customer requirements
  • Identifies market/scope changes and develops product/program positions for costs/price and feature changes or equitable cost/schedule adjustments
  • Develops personnel to ensure efficient operation as well as developing long term people strategy for long term retention and development


KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Tremendous knowledge of products and technologies including current and potential applications
  • Knowledge of target customer markets
  • Ability to identify partnership candidates best suited to fill product gaps
  • Demonstrated leadership of a program with significant delivery or technical risk
  • Ability to track work accomplished to baseline plans and identify issues, track progress, and follow through on effective corrective actions based on data analysis and trends
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to lead teams in matrix organization to achieve schedule, cost, and technical performance objectives
  • Will interact frequently with internal personnel and outside representatives at various levels
  • Skilled in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions on programs to internal and external representatives
  • Tremendous knowledge of government contracting practices and regulations regarding acquisition
  • Ability to develop and execute proposal plans and strategies
  • May be required to travel


PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Engineering Degree
  • Understanding of Mission Level Design and Implementation
  • Background in US Air Force and Intelligence Community Systems and implementation for emerging missions.
