Data Architect Technical Program Manager

Content & Taxonomy Enablement (CTE) is a part of the Customer Support Infrastructure and Services Technology (IST) organization delivering best in class content through back-end solutions. The CTE team is currently seeking a Technical Program Manager (Taxonomy Data Architect) who has experience with the analysis, design and implementation of Data Model and Taxonomy Management solutions to integrate with HP's Smart Content program.

Job Summary

The Program Manager will manage the analysis, definition and implementation of the Data Model and Taxonomy Management solutions as deployed in the Smart Content program.

  • Serves as the lead Data Architect for the Smart Content program
  • Leads and manages the analysis, design, and implementation of the Data Model as used in the Smart Content program
  • Leads and manages the analysis, design, and implementation of the Taxonomy Management for the Smart Content program, including Smartlogic Semaphore and its integrations / customizations
  • Serves as the liaison for all Data Model requirements and questions / issues with the HP service providers, including SDL and HP IT
  • Applies unique mastery and recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories, and techniques
  • Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Provides highly innovative solutions
  • Collaborates with cross-division, cross-organization, and multi-function teams
  • Routinely exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and criteria for achieving objectives. Develops strategy and helps set functional policy and direction
  • Manages business development. Identifies and develops new opportunities. Supports early qualification and opportunity assessment for large or complex business opportunities
  • Communicates the direct value our capabilities will provide to our business partners and customers
  • Mentors' others, providing a role model and support for individual development
  • Impact is evidenced by multiple contributions over time and performance demonstrates sustained level of contribution



Responsibilities:

Data Model

  • Data model analysis and requirements definition
  • Data model design
  • Data model configuration in the Smartlogic Semaphore TMS
  • Understanding and developing Data model strategies related to emerging technologies



Taxonomy Management

  • Taxonomy Management analysis and requirements definition
  • Smartlogic Semaphore customization design
  • Smartlogic Semaphore integration and customization implementation and test management including software upgrades



Technical Liaison

  • Business representation for the Data Model and Taxonomy Management to technical, cross-organizational partners
  • Testing / Evaluation leadership for the Data Model and Taxonomy Management within development release cycles
  • Level 4 (Advanced) technical troubleshooting and support



Program/Project Management

  • Lead and manage new Data Model implementations and deployments
  • Lead and manage new Taxonomy Management implementations and deployments
  • Help drive Smart Content POR / Roadmap
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of key operational policies, processes, and methodologies applicable to project management
  • Works on complex projects where analysis of situations or data require an in-depth evaluation of multiple, complex factors, and significant use of judgment
  • Delivers projects affecting multiple client divisions or the enterprise
  • Manages a portfolio of projects or a program and supervises other project managers on very large multi-function, multi- vendor projects
  • Has an extensive understanding of critical project management techniques



Business Analyst

  • Lead analysis of major Smart Content business requirements related to the Data Model and Taxonomy Management
  • Document requirements and recommendations
  • Submit development User Stories based on analysis within an Agile development environment
  • Perform acceptance testing on user stories


Job Requirements
Education

A bachelor's or master's degree in library or information science, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • 5 or more years of experience in Data Modeling
  • 3 or more years of experience in Taxonomy Management
  • 3 or more years of experience in Smartlogic Semaphore customizations
  • 5 to 7 years in diverse roles with increasing leadership responsibilities across major projects and programs
  • 5 or more years of experience in the content management or content delivery business/industry
  • Substantial consulting leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing "upward" among senior leadership
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams


Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Data Model standards
  • Knowledge in Taxonomy Management tools and technologies, such as Smartlogic Semaphore
  • Experience with technical content development and delivery teams
  • Experience with Agile Project/Program management methodologies
  • Knowledge of one or more Application Lifecycle Management tools, such as Microsoft TFS or JIRA
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate program objectives and maintain alignment with business strategies
  • Understanding of current and emerging content technologies and how organizations are employing them to drive digital business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to explain the program goals and objectives to the business, as well as technical leadership
  • Strong business acumen, including industry- and domain-specific knowledge of the organization and its business units
  • Influencing and negotiation experience and skills in an environment with high competition for resources
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Ability to develop programs and deliver them with financial and resource constraints
  • Experience across a range of project types
