This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker Role providing services for TIAA's family of companies and will be employed by TIAA's preferred 3rd Party Supplier. As a Non-Employee CW, perform a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results.

This role is located onsite at our TIAA office in Charlotte, NC, USA but will currently be remote.

The anticipated term of this engagement will be 11 months. This term could be extended based on company business needs.

CW-Lead Project Manager IT
The Program and Project Management job plans, organizes, and controls resources/processes to achieve project/program objectives within scope, time, quality, and budget constraints. Under minimal supervision, this job utilizes general knowledge of the project/business requirements to manage large projects for the organization.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Organizes project teams by assigning individual responsibilities, developing project schedules, and determining resource requirements necessary to ensure project is successful.
  • Estimates the costs, resources, and time required to complete each phase of a project and allocates resources and tasks to ensure these targets are met.
  • Implements an established project plan and monitors progress and performance against this plan.
  • Monitors the status of projects including cost, timing, and staffing.
  • Identifies and resolves obstacles to completing project on time and to budget.
  • Conducts project meetings and prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team.
  • Coordinates the activities of outside contractors to ensure they are integrated into the project and that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.

The Variable Annuity Program/Project Manager will be responsible for directing, leading, and coordinating one or more strategic initiatives for the CREF, Real Estate Account (REA), and TIAA Access/VA-3 products. This role will include not only core program management functions like tracking issues, risks and executive-level reporting, but will also require significant thought leadership, hands on execution and relationship management skills needed to drive the projects and programs in the initiative through the pipeline from planning to closure in an effective and efficient manner. You will play a central role in supporting the achievement of the strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Partner with business leaders to establish programs and define program scope based on key business objectives.
  • Facilitate the analysis and reporting on programs / projects within the initiative and the development of recommendations regarding change requests
  • Communicate information, with diplomacy, upwards to the leadership team, across to the stakeholders, and down to programs and projects
  • Proactively drive integration and collaboration across key business partners and technology stakeholders
  • Ensure stakeholder engagement and effective communications across the initiative
  • Develops business rationale for change including costs, benefits, and tradeoffs.
  • Drive change adoption through employee readiness, training and effective control plans
  • Drive integration with partners such as Finance, Risk, Audit to ensure that all control functions are involved
  • Coordinate with the Institutional Lifetime Income business management team for initiative level reporting, interdependency management, performance management, and issue, risk and change review and escalation
  • Provide business management support for the REA and TIAA Access/VA-3 product management teams in terms of monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables



Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree and/or combination of 10+ years equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in Financial Services, with Retirement Financial Services a plus
  • 5+ years experience with program or project management


Desired/Preferred skills

  • Ability to lead complex business-readiness efforts, multi-task, and work in a fast paced environment
  • Advanced communication and collaboration capabilities
  • Experience in developing project plans, stakeholder maps, budget management, resource management, risk and contingency planning
  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies preferred with SAFe certification or other change management certification a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of TIAA products, services, processes, and systems platforms preferred but not necessary

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
