Job summary
The Red Hat Business Unit team is looking for a Copyeditor Program Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will support multiple fast-moving editorial projects for developers.redhat.com. You will work with a small team of editors and be assigned articles, blogs, cheatsheets, and e-books to be copyedited and polished for publication. As a Copyeditor Program Manager, you should be motivated with a positive attitude, and willing to grow professionally. Our team is rapidly growing so this is a great opportunity for you to expand into a project manager role as well.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Serve as technical copyeditor in a small editorial team
  • Copyedit highly technical articles, blogs, product pages, topic pages, etc.
  • Work with contributors and authors in a time-sensitive respectful way
  • Respond to author emails for new accounts, answering miscellaneous author queries
  • Initiate article ingest, check content for plagiarism, audience relevance, and time-sensitive material, and add video if needed
  • Create editorial newsletters and help manage internal content partnerships


Required skills

  • Familiarity with open source, Red Hat offerings and technologies, and major programming languages like Java, Python, Go, and Rust
  • 4+ years experience copyediting highly technical content and code blocks
  • Experience creating, developing, and editing content for developers
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, digital mindset, ability to organize data, and time management and calendar management skills
  • Ability to research products, keywords, and SEO-friendly titles
  • Learning mindset; desire to master new technologies and tools
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Drupal
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field like journalism, marketing, communications, or engineering
