As a part of Aerospace's Human Exploration and Space Flight team, the Commercial Crew Program support team at Kennedy Space Center is seeking candidates to help bring human space flight closer to the average person. We are looking for individuals who help can solve the hardware, software, and operations problems that come with human space flight.
What You'll Be Doing• Selectee(s) will be working in the Safety & Mission Assurance (S&MA) area of the NASA Commercial Crew Program (CCP).• The Aerospace team provides technical insight and support services to the CCP S&MA, allowing NASA to review data which determines if the Provider is ready to fly humans to Earth orbit.• Without our support, the NASA team could not accomplish the mission.• Selectee(s) will either conduct reviews of provider technical reports of flight hardware and software tests or witness these tests and file reports with the NASA technical subject matter experts.• Selectee(s) must be able to work closely with provider personnel in near real time to facilitate and witness tests.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:• Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in engineering• 5+ years of experience in space flight with emphasis in one of the following disciplines:• Liquid Rocket Propulsion (Best)• Fluids/Mechanical/Active thermal/ECLSS/Valves (Better)• Comm/Avionics/GNC (Good)• Experience with the Preliminary and Critical Design Review process• Experience as part of a test team doing critical flight hardware testing• Experience in verifying compliance with design and/or test requirements• Willing to travel to Provider sites for testing up to six times a year for a week at a time.
How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:• Have a Masters or PhD from an accredited program in a field of engineering, science or technology• 8+ years of experience in the same disciplines listed above• 5+ years of experience in real time testing of flight hardware or software• Experience as a test team leader• Experience in human space flight testing
