About the job
The Red Hat Products and Technologies (PnT) Enterprise Experience and Delivery (ExD) Infrastructure Labs and Data Center team is looking for an Associate Project Manager to join us in North America. In this role, you will interact directly with infrastructure, engineering, and development teams to ensure that all requirements from our stakeholders across PnT are being captured and fulfilled. You will work in close collaboration with product owners, project sponsors, stakeholders, and engineering leads to achieve strategic project goals. It is essential that you are able to handle requirements from multiple groups and work with internal customers to establish quarterly plans. To succeed in thi role, you need to have exceptional organizational effectiveness, communication skills, change management, and ability to work with a geographically dispersed team. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Oversee all aspects of new and existing programs or projects from start to finish
  • Develop and maintain the master plan, schedule, and status for multiple milestones and releases
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders while fostering an environment of collaboration, trust, and accountability within and across departments
  • Identify risks, issues, and problems in software engineering processes and develop detailed recovery, mitigation, and scaling plans
  • Document processes and standards
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting for projects
  • Work with management and teams on project proposals and estimates
  • Plan project roadmap and maintain a schedule spanning multiple delivery teams and quarters, providing input for the quarterly planning process
  • Carry out assigned project and work package activities across all phases of their life cycle
  • Plan, budget, and ensure all aspects of a specific project are managed to completion
  • Monitor metrics, proactively identify risks and mitigation plans, as well as dependencies
  • Conduct retrospectives upon project completion for lessons learned; report progress to senior stakeholders
  • Consult technical aspects of projects with Data Center Group Tech Lead (GTL)
  • Contribute to continuous enhancement of organizational project management capability and overall workflow efficiency
  • Champion a common methodology for end-to-end work management
  • Facilitate team or individual calls outside your time zone during when necessary


What you will bring

  • 2+ years of project management experience in a data center or 5+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, 6+ years of relevant experience and a Master's degree, or a Ph.D. with 3+ years of equivalent experience
  • PMP certification or similar and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification, or equivalent work experience
  • Intermediate experience with various project management or agile tools
  • Experience in enterprise storage and computing
  • Experience with Linux and storage virtualization
  • Experience managing systems upgrades, data migrations, re-hosting,
  • Experience leading reengineering and systems migrations activities
  • Ongoing commitment to continuous learning in support of the role
  • Foundational knowledge of Red Hat technology is a plus
  • Experience with open source is a plus
  • Project management or agile certifications are a plus
  • ServiceNow knowledge is a plus
  • Jira and Confluence knowledge are a plus
  • Basic knowledge of low voltage systems, direct current power, data center standards, network equipment installation (IBM, Dell, HP, Etc.), cabling, and infrastructure is plus
