As an Associate Project Manager in Marine Systems, Process Automation Marine & Ports in Houston, Texas, you will be leading the execution of small projects, ensuring that they are executed in line with procedures, specifications, standards requirements and targets.You will manage, design, small and medium new build projects for shipyards and designers subcontracted to US (United States) Government.

Head of Project Management and Engineering
Your responsibilities

• Project Planning and Tracking: Use of IPM (Integrated Project Management) / Microsoft Project or similar tools for planning of project related activities and costs
• Document Processing and Control: Ability to use multitude of document storage and transfer programs. Has understanding of commercial, regulatory and government classification requirements for proper handling of Proprietary and Confidential Unclassified Information
• Project Requisition, Ordering and Receiving: Experience or ability to learn SAP. Experience or ability to learn issuing purchase requisitions for project execution purposes
• Negotiation and Scope Management: Ability to maintain project within contract scope. Ability to negotiate additional scope with adequate manning, technical and equipment scope
• Vessel Engineering and Operational Knowledge: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the Engineering, Navigational and Operational Equipment onboard US Naval and Coast Guard vessels. Ability to link design, manufacturing and operational knowledge to ensure quality designs are implemented in all projects
• Problem Solving: Ability to understand, seek and remediate project obstacles in a timely manner to safeguard project delivery timeline
• Budget Management: Ability to manage multi million dollar cost budgets, taking account for equipment, services and man hour costs to prevent project overruns, while seeking opportunities to margin improvement
• Strategic Project Management: Ability to enforce/adjust project priorities and effectively manage resources to support constantly changing project requirements

Your background

• Bachelor Degree of Science (Required) and 5 years of relevant experience
• Recommended focus in Electrical, Naval Architecture, Naval Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Controls Engineering
• Project Manager Certification (Recommended)
• Lean Six Sigma - Green Belt (Recommended)
• Microsoft Office
• Microsoft Project or Similar
• US Navy or US Coast Guard Vessel Maintenance or Operational Experience a plus
• Active Security Clearance of Secret or Higher a plus
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
