Position Summary:

As an Associate Project Manager on the Open Innovation team at Illumina you will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment to help create new genomic products and solutions used in the leading edge of research. The primary function of this role is to support a product development team with the project planning, system infrastructure and product release process to enable new product launches.

Responsibilities:

  • Create project plans and timelines to help prioritize activities and ensure timely implementation of project critical tasks
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert in operational implementation of genomic products and Configuration and Document Management
  • Create and ensure accuracy of engineering and manufacturing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other product documentation including, but not limited to development data and production content
  • Assure configuration and document change documentation includes required information, such as supporting rationale, relevant documentation, and appropriate implementation strategies
  • Collaborate with product development teams and cross-functionally to ensure activities and documentation supporting product releases are complete and created in accordance with standard processes
  • Support the creation of lower layer parts, kit level parts and kit releases
  • Support updates in Laboratory Information Management Systems to accommodate new product configurations
  • Create engineering change orders and change requests in accordance with established procedures
  • Monitor changes throughout the change management process to ensure accurate and speedy processing
  • Communicate project needs, timelines, and tradeoffs across teams
  • Implement efficient solutions for operations and product lifecycle management (PLM).
  • Understand implications of PLM changes to downstream cross functional areas and systems

Requirements:

  • Experience in new product development in technology-driven manufacturing industry (could be in R&D, Operations, etc. role)
  • Experience applying project management techniques and tools to deliver business results
  • Some familiarity with FDA, GMP and ISO requirements for medical devices or clinical diagnostics is preferred
  • Experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter desired
  • Experience in MS Office, MS Project, Visio and PowerPoint
  • Must be detailed oriented, well organized and able to work independently and in teams
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible, able to adapt quickly to change in a fast-paced environment

Education:

Bachelor's degree and 0-3 years previous professional experience. Candidates with B.S. in Molecular Biology or other life sciences preferred.
