The ASET Project Engineer Position for the Agile Space Acquisition and Implementation (ASA&I) Department supports the Space Force's Innovation and Prototyping Directorate (SZI) Chief Engineers Office. This includes technical support for mission development across the lifecycle - requirements definition, milestone support, system definition, build, integration and test, launch and early operations support. The ASA&I Department is looking for an experienced, highly motivated systems engineer with mission experience who can deal with complexity, think outside the box, adapt to new situations, and bridge disciplinary boundaries to produce deeper insights in support of our customers.
This position is located at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.
What You'll Be Doing
- Working with customers to improve their organizational systems engineering and program management processes
- Providing system acquisition, architecting, and engineering expertise in the national security domains.
- Participating in systems studies and analyses that support technical, programmatic, and organizational decision-making on a variety of projects
- Participating in studies such as systems architecture analyses, technology development planning and evaluation, organizational effectiveness studies, and risk assessments across program lifecycles.
- Developing innovative capabilities and solutions that support our nation's space, launch, ground, and operations capabilities.
- Identifying exciting opportunities for adopting new technologies to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges
- Integrate and leverage all aspects/functions/capability of the Aerospace Corporation in executing the mission portfolio through virtual teaming, backplane engagement, ETG matrix, etc.
- Work closely with members of a diverse team of military, government civilians, prime contractors, SE&I contractors, FFRDCs, and National Laboratories.
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed
- Occasional travel is required
- This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent to include, but not limited to, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, etc.
- 8 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience working across government programs
- Experience in systems engineering across the mission lifecycle
- Experience working with small satellite and prototyping missions
- Experience tailoring systems engineering processes to a variety or risk tolerance and development lifecycle environments
- Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams with Aerospace, government, and contractor personnel
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; experience presenting and writing technical information
