Job Description Organization Description
The Global Technology Platform Services group within JPMorgan Chase vision is to deliver market-leading technology with agility to our customers in a secure and scalable manner. The Identity and Trust Platforms (ITP) Product Line within Global Technology focuses on delivering directory services, platform Identity, and privileged access management within a hybrid multi-cloud strategy. The group proactively partners across all lines of business and functions to enable these critical services to engineering teams in a frictionless fashion.
High Risk Roles (HRR) are sensitive roles within the technology organization that require high assurance of the integrity of staff by virtue of 1) sensitive cybersecurity and technology functions they perform within systems or 2) information they receive regarding sensitive cybersecurity or technology matters. Users in these roles are subject to enhanced pre-hire screening which includes both criminal and credit background checks (as allowed by law). The enhanced screening will need to be successfully completed prior to commencing employment or assignment.
Job Description
As an Agility Lead / Scrum Master, you will act as a servant leader for your team(s) by facilitating clear communication to management and to the team. Our Agility Lead/ Scrum Masters are open, approachable, collaborative, and enjoy working with passionate people. They're proactive in solving problems to help their team(s) succeed. The Agility Lead / Scrum Master drives Agile and Lean frameworks that result in quality product delivery and continuous improvement. They embrace agility as a practice. The Agility Lead / Scrum Master is responsible for removing impediments that hinder the team from reaching their goals and has a flexible approach that enables the team to rapidly respond to changes.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Product Managers and Engineering Leads to align team with the product vision, sprint goals, and other necessary information
  • Facilitates scrum ceremonies of multiple teams
  • Champions continuous improvement activities to reduce waste and increase productivity; coaches teams to conduct continuous improvement events
  • Seeks opportunities for improvement to the overall effectiveness of teams and the organization
  • Communicates organizational impediments to leadership; clears impediments for the team
  • Embraces the concept of continuous learning in your own journey and instills the same in the team(s) you coach
  • Learn and Leverage existing agile practices within the organization
  • Assess existing practices, identify deficiencies and gaps, and create plans to remediate
  • Bring in industry experience when helping implement tools, techniques, frameworks and practices surrounding product and delivery
  • Leverage and align Jira reporting for consistency
  • Create effective communication approaches at different levels
  • Coach teams to practice sizing/estimating and adhere to scrum ceremonies
  • Ensure sprints are aligned according to the release schedule and cross functional dependencies are identified, committed to, and scheduled across component teams
  • Be a change agent with exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to influence up


Qualifications and Experience
This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, 5 + years Scrum Master experience preferred, at least 2 working on large scale global software development projects
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Certification in a relevant agility or product management discipline preferred
  • Expert understanding of core agile practices, estimating, and planning
  • Strong familiarity and adherence to core Agile values and principles
  • A mindset of servant leadership and an ability to coach and mentor
  • Experience facilitating scrum ceremonies (backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint demo, and retrospective)
  • Ability to remove impediments, solve problems, resolve conflict, and enforce agreed-upon rules with the Team
  • Prior experience in creating and improving agile processes within a team or a company
  • Strong written/verbal communication, analysis, and interpersonal skills
  • Exposure to modern engineering practices like Test-Driven Development, CI/CD
  • Sound understanding of scaled agile frameworks
  • Experience working with globally diverse and distributed teams
  • Prior experience of working in Financial Institutions in a similar role
  • Leadership capability and self-motivated team player
  • Ability to organize/manage multiple priorities coupled with the flexibility to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Atlassian agility and product tools - Jira, Confluence, Align
