Work Schedule: Business hours, other as needed
Direct Reports: None
Position Base: Centennial Co
Location(s): In person Colorado
Travel: 25% of the time
Summary of Position:
The Project Manager owns two connected disciplines at FES: application engineering (scoping and quoting) and project delivery (execution through commissioning). Combining these functions in a single role creates a direct feedback loop—the person who quotes the job is the same person who executes it, which drives continuous improvement in cost accuracy, schedule realism, and customer satisfaction.
This role is the single point of contact between the customer and FES from the quotation stage through project completion. The Project Manager works with the sales team during the proposal process, coordinates with engineering and operations to fulfill the order, provides complete documentation so the customer can prepare their site, and supports the operations team through commissioning.
Requirements
How This Role Works
FES operates with clear individual accountability, a weekly cadence of structured reporting and problem-solving, and quarterly goals that connect day-to-day work to company-level priorities. This role carries ownership of every project from quote to commissioning and is expected to flag issues early, communicate transparently with stakeholders, and drive projects to completion without waiting to be directed.
Part A: Application Engineering
The application engineering function covers the front end of every project—translating customer requirements into accurate, buildable proposals. This is where cost discipline starts.
• Develop proposals for new and used unit sales, leases, and T&M projects requiring manufacturing or engineering support.
• Work with the sales team during the quotation process to understand site conditions, customer requirements, and project scope.
• Translate technical and commercial requirements into budgets, resource plans, and delivery schedules that operations can execute against.
• Evaluate codes, standards, and site-specific requirements to identify compliance obligations and cost drivers early in the process.
• Maintain a library of lessons learned from completed projects and apply them to improve the accuracy of future proposals.
Part B: Project Delivery
The project delivery function picks up where the proposal ends. Because the same person quoted the job, there is no handoff gap—the Project Manager already understands what was promised, what it should cost, and where the risks are.
Planning & Execution
• Develop and manage project plans covering scope, timelines, and resource allocation from contract execution through assembly, delivery, installation, and commissioning.
• Track project budgets against proposal estimates; identify variances and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor progress and communicate status, risks, and issues to stakeholders, including the end customer.
• Ensure projects meet quality standards, safety regulations, and company practices.
Resource Management
• Identify and secure necessary resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Manage all unit builds, rebuilds, and T&M projects involving engineering or manufacturing.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain.
Risk Management
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans and contingencies.
• Evaluate codes and standards for applicability; identify gaps and work with the team to drive compliance.
Customer & Stakeholder Communication
• Provide complete documentation to customers so they can prepare their sites and install equipment successfully.
• Support the operations team to ensure site readiness for commissioning.
• Assist with product acceptance and compliance with internal and external standards for safety, reliability, and performance.
The Feedback Loop
A core expectation of this role is closing the loop between what was quoted and what was delivered. After each project, the Project Manager reviews actual costs, schedule performance, and scope changes against the original proposal. These findings feed directly into improved estimating for future projects. The company tracks this through structured weekly reviews and quarterly goal-setting.
