Job Description

Turner & Townsend are leaders in professional services to the Data Centre sector globally. Due to the continued success and expansion of our Data Centre business across Europe, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Lead Machine Learning (ML) to join our Data Centre team.

In this role, you will oversee machine learning (ML) infrastructure upgrades within a  hyperscale data centre environment across EMEA. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in data centre construction and commissioning. The role involves full lifecycle responsibility, from contractor appointment through to completion of commissioning.

With a market leading client base and the opportunity to take the lead on strategic commissions and high-profile projects, this is an exciting time to join the business unit and grow a career with Turner & Townsend.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the change order process with the appointed specialist contractor, ensuring scope documentation fully captures mechanical, electrical, and fibre requirements along with accurate localisation of all scope elements.
  • Oversee the contractor's delivery schedule, including clear communication of key milestones to relevant stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Lead the execution of ML infrastructure works, ensuring scope is well-defined and minimising change orders during delivery.
  • Coordinate logistics of materials from both integrators and internal suppliers, ensuring timely delivery in line with the project schedule.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate key risks associated with ML infrastructure delivery.
  • Coordinate critical interfaces with the main data centre fit-out, including power availability, cooling readiness, and hall acceptance milestones.
  • Work closely with the fibre infrastructure team to ensure alignment and delivery of fibre scope to meet ML requirements.
  • Ensure ML scope is delivered independently of the main construction package, including dedicated management and labour resources.
  • Manage and coordinate mechanical and electrical commissioning activities up to commissioning completion (L3), and support operations teams during L4 phases.
  • Provide regular reporting on project risks, timelines, and progress to programme management and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain and share lessons learned to support continuous improvement across projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Construction Management / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in data centre construction and commissioning is essential; Mechanical expertise is highly desirable, as the scope of work is largely driven by mechanical systems.
  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in data centre fit-out and commissioning projects.
  • Thorough understanding of the total project life cycle, from project inception stage, design, authority approvals through to construction completion and post-project review.
  • Solid understanding of complex, site-specific configurations and supply chain coordination.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of all of the main project management concepts, tools and techniques.
  • Ability to thrive in a high pressure, fast paced environment.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Highly motivated and driven with a passion for delivering to your client.
  • Availability for on-site work.
