The Department and the Team
The Marine & Ports department develops advanced electrical and automation solutions for the maritime industry. With our innovative technologies in power, drives, and automation, our systems have met the high standards of marine and offshore applications for decades.
Within the Marine & Ports department, you will join the project team. This international team consists of multiple project managers and project engineers. In your role, you will have the opportunity to work in an internationally oriented organization and contribute to a wide range of challenging projects, such as shore-to-ship systems. The project team works on both vessel-side and shore-side systems, always connected to the maritime environment. All projects are executed using our own product lines.
Your Role and Responsibilities
You play a key role in the design, implementation, and commissioning of advanced power solutions. Every day, you work closely with a dynamic team to ensure that all engineering activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and according to the highest standards.
Your main responsibilities include:
Translating customer requirements and specifications into functional and technical designs.
Designing and verifying project-specific low-voltage (LV), medium-voltage (MV), power generation and distribution systems.
Applying systems engineering principles to ensure end-to-end coherence and functionality of the designs.
Preparing and supporting internal and external functional and acceptance tests.
Leading commissioning activities on-site, including guiding and directing service technicians, both locally and internationally.
Ensuring compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC, maritime classification societies).
Qualifications for the Role
We are looking for a driven professional with an electrical engineering background and strong technical foundation. You recognize yourself in the following profile:
You hold a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
You have at least 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
You possess strong knowledge of low-voltage and medium-voltage power generation and distribution systems. Knowledge of frequency converters is an advantage.
Preferably, you are familiar with ABB’s Relion series protection relays.
You have experience with systems engineering methodologies and understand how complex systems interact.
You have a practical mindset, a strong sense of responsibility, and a customer-focused attitude.
You have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
You are willing to travel internationally on occasion.
You are proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD/EPLAN, and ETAP.
You have a good command of the English language, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
