This Position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.

This role is contributing to the Electrification business Distribution Solutions division in Hyderabad, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• System Design & Engineering : Led the end-to-end design and deployment of Electrical Distribution Automation Systems and Relay Control Panels, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

• Relay & PLC Programming : Engineered, customized, and debugged configurations for ABB Relion® series relays and ABB AC500 PLCs, following IEC 61131-3 standards to deliver reliable and scalable electrification solutions.

• Hardware Selection : Directed the selection of key hardware components including relays, Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), switches, and communication modules for optimal system performance and integration.

• Technical Documentation : Authored detailed engineering documentation such as System Architecture diagrams, I/O and Operator Panel lists, Logic Diagrams, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), and FAT/SAT protocols.

• Testing & Commissioning Support : Provided expert technical assistance during Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT), ensuring seamless commissioning and alignment with customer expectations.

• Proposal & Estimation Support : Contributed to engineering proposals and client presentations by preparing Bills of Materials (BOM), estimating engineering hours, and defining technical scopes.

• Safety & Security Engineering : Collaborated with project leads to establish and finalize fail-safe philosophies and secure-by-design principles during project initiation and design freeze stages.

• Project Collaboration & Problem Solving : Actively engaged in project meetings, performed root cause analysis of technical challenges, and delivered effective, customer-focused solutions within project timelines.

Qualifications for the role:

• B.E in Electrical with 3–7 years of hands-on project experience in Substation Automation, Electrical Distribution Control, LV / MV Switchgear and Power Systems Protection.

• ABB Relion® series Relay configuration using PCM600 software.

• PLC programming in accordance with the IEC 61131-3 standard preferably ABB AC500 PLC.

• Proficient in EPLAN and AutoCAD for electrical design.

• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio) for project documentation.

• Strong Hardware knowledge for Electrical Distribution Automation projects.

• Familiar with standards like IEC61850 protocols (GOOSE, MMS, SMV), Modbus, DNP3.0, IEC104.
