The Role: VP, Product Growth

Grove is a high-growth e-commerce brand, shipping hundreds of thousands of orders to happy customers each month. We're looking for an experienced, highly analytical, VP of Growth Product Management with consumer and e-commerce experience who is excited to reinvent Grove’s Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) new customer experience to welcome the next 10 million customers.


Reporting directly to the Head of Product, you will be responsible for Visitor and New Customer Experience. You will partner with Marketing to drive our growth strategy and own the innovation plan for the Grove.co customer experience. You’ll manage a team of 3-4 product managers to achieve product-channel fit in new advertising channels and build new growth loops for Grove beyond our subscription business model. You will identify big ideas that drive material improvements to conversion. Over the long term, you will help achieve a step-change in organic growth by building digital assets that drive Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Referral, and Direct acquisition.

THE OPPORTUNITY & IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE:

  • Drive Grove’s growth product strategy towards impactful and sustainable business results
  • Create a process and framework that forces crisp trade-offs and leads to focus, empowerment, and results, grounded in thoughtful prioritization. 
  • Leverage data to inform decisions and measure what matters. 
  • Exhibit high judgment in your decision-making across a variety of initiatives; some long-lead and platform-oriented, others which are fast-iteration, experiment-driven, and growth-oriented. 
  • Accelerate our rate of experimentation by creating strong practices around measurement and analysis.
  • Develop and communicate annual and multi-year product strategy that improves the P&L and business model
  • Develop and grow a team of 3 talented product managers and scale the growth product team over the coming years. Partner with the CTO, Head of Product, SVP of Growth Marketing, VP of Engineering, and other stakeholders to define what’s possible and ensure we are investing our resources as effectively as possible.
  • Encourage the right blend of data and customer insight that leads to measurable outcomes. As part of the Senior Leadership Team (reporting to the Head of Product), you will participate in the development of Grove’s strategy and corporate planning.
  • Augment our capabilities with agencies, consultants, and contractors when necessary.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • You have 10+ years of relevant work experience with at least 5 years of experience in Product Management. 
  • You have led growth product in a consumer business delivering 30%+ customer annual growth. 
  • You have experience in a VC-backed or newly public growth company.
  • You are capable of communicating effectively (written and verbal) with individual contributors up through executive staff and Board.
  • You think about the customer first and have experience achieving business objectives by solving customer pain points.
  • You have worked in a company with a significant performance marketing budget ($5M+). You have direct experience with our top channels: Facebook/Paid Social, Google/SEM, TV, SEO, and Email Marketing.
  • You understand the business drivers that determine success within DTC eCommerce. 
  • You are not afraid to approach things differently.
  • You address principles first and do not rely on what the competition is doing but can consider other ideas when it’s the right thing to do.
  • You have strong analytical skills. You can dig into the numbers and verify analysis when needed.
  • You make hard, informed decisions when called upon quickly, clearly, and concisely
  • You love speaking with customers and encourage everyone to do the same.
  • You can inspire both product managers and engineers, and get them excited about their impact. You can similarly share the vision with other executives and advocate for the product team.
