SUMMARY

UX Product Manager

Experienced product manager. A combination of strong functional knowledge of the business line paired with deep product knowledge to drive strategic change of a proprietary finance platform. Seeks perspective from multiple stakeholders and team members to optimize value to customers and minimize risk to existing functionality. Actively looks for opportunities for process improvements that result in higher efficiency, effectiveness, and a better user experience.

Has specific knowledge or expertise typically gained through formal education or equivalent experience. Uses expertise to derive technology solutions to complex problems. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines. Works independently; receives minimal guidance. Will lead both projects independently and be responsible for project deliverables within broader strategic initiatives. Individual will have accountability for on-going activities and strategic objectives across multiple business segments. Acts as a thought-leader who must promote a vision, build alliances and has power of persuasion. Excellence in execution and consistency are also key. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acting product manager UX design transformation for a major proprietary finance platform that supports a large segment of NT's client base, of which the below responsibilities are with respect:
  • Creates and maintains a strategy that is aligned to the goals of sponsors
  • Takes a new perspective on existing solutions
  • Exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Finds balance between larger strategic initiatives and smaller high-value requests
  • Accountable to build and manage a refined product backlog of prioritized development
  • Daily oversight of product development including but not limited to:
    • Consistently leads robust product refinement sessions
    • Requirements are documented clearly and understood by all relevant parties
    • Test plans are thorough
    • Validation and feedback through testing is timely
    • The team understands the goal and value of each development item
  • Collaborate directly with project managers, agile managers and scrum masters on milestones of both short-term (e.g. end of day milestone) and long-term (e.g. release milestone)
  • Participate in discovery sessions with new clients to determine impact to development scope
  • Accountable to training as deemed required of new technology solutions for both internal and external users
  • Performs risk assessment of development solutions to determine appropriate testing strategy
  • Oversee migrations to new technology including but not limited to
    • Training business users on new technology
    • Establish a roadmap of migrations
    • Oversee execution of migration
    • Put forward development requests to expedite migrations
    • Incorporate feedback of new technology from early adopters
  • Is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

TAILORED RESPONSIBILITIES

As the product solutions team supports the evolution of a proprietary fintech platform, this particular role is unique in that is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the overall user experience of the front end. It's a large and complex platform that supports full trade life cycle for nearly all financial types (equities, fixed income, swaps, private investments, etc.), positions and street reconciliations, income and expense calculations, general ledger and financial reporting as well as investor services and accounting. This platform includes dozens of applications and modules to support these services for our clients.

  • Thought leader with long term vision and strategy for an improved web-based experience.
  • Responsible for organizing and communicating design strategy across leadership and organization.
  • Turn data insights into better design to deliver a more intuitive and cohesive client experience. Participate in researching how clients and users engage with our tools today to identify where we can create more intuitive applications that are at-the-ready with what they want.
  • Personify the respective end users and stakeholders of each application to ensure the front end can be simplified for infrequent users all the way to complex for super users
  • Manage Design Team resourcing in alignment with platform priorities.
  • Oversight and coordination to ensure design aligns with global requirements and also the functional needs of user personas.
  • Maintain technical requirements for all web pages of the platform to ensure consistency and effective interoperability across applications.
  • Develop, own and execute UX strategic roadmap. Engage with developer teams and coach product owners to ensure design scope and requirements are proactively refined and in adherence to global requirements across all web applications.

  • Usage of workflow & communication tools like Jira, Azure, Confluence, PowerPoint, Teams & Yammer. Knowledge of Figma and UX design tools.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle and common frameworks (scrum, kanban, waterfall)

EXPERIENCE

  • Must have at least three of the below, more is preferred:
    • Key member of substantial agile transition in their organization
    • Key member of multiple major client onboarding initiatives
    • Key tester and approver of new software delivered to production (i.e. understands the system well enough to test UX and approve related test plans)
    • Acting product owner of a workstream of technology at your organization
    • Material transformative design experience (while creating designs is not part of the role, a background in design can be beneficial)
  • Driver of technology solutions to solve complex problems
  • Extensive experience working with colleagues outside reporting lines
  • Experience with Investment Management and/or Financial Services is preferred
    • Alternative Asset Management specific strongly encouraged
  • Has mentored and trained multiple colleagues to be technically proficient
  • A College or University degree and relevant proven work experience
  • Certifications are a plus
    • Agile (product owner, scrum master, etc.)
    • UX/Design Certifications
    • MBA, CPA, CFA
