The Technical Product Manager are responsible for driving the development of features and user stories for the product. The TPM understands the primary capabilities of the product line and has tight partnership with the business owners, stakeholders, and end users. They are responsible for the management of the full product lifecycle with a technical focus, including the strategy, design, development, management end end-of-life of new, existing or acquired products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determine how the product experience should work - translating a vision to technical direction, processes and requirements
  • Voice of the business/customer to scrum teams in the day-to-day execution and deployment of product features
  • Single owner that validates whether the feature deployment meets the business requirements
  • Capture, define, and document business feature use cases and requirements, soliciting input from business and clinical stakeholders across business units
  • Communicate feature needs and requirements to each functional area, leading the definition of requirements for the following groups to ensure overall readiness:
    • Clinical Operations - defining process changes, training needs, and measures of success
    • Technology - define use cases and requirements
    • Reporting - defining reporting output requirements and business targets
    • Finance - defining financial implications to ensure proper billing/ budgeting
    • Procurement - defining vendor requirements and supporting contracting
  • Manage prioritization and trade-offs between customer experience, business requirements, technical limitations, performance and operational

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 2+ years of additional experience in lieu of a degree
  • 3+ years of Business Analysis experience
  • Experience in working with Agile / Scrum work environment as a Technical Product Owner: writing user stories, and following the development process through user story acceptance
  • Collaborator - experience working with stakeholders and subject matter experts across business, clinical, reporting, finance, technology and other disciplines to align shared objectives, influence decisions, and get projects done
  • Owner and Driver - demonstrated ability to create a plan from scratch and execute that plan to reach deliverables, delegating and effectively holding cross-functional partners accountable to reach commitments
  • Communicator - Experience in developing program artifacts including but not limited to project plans, business requirements, executive summary and budget status
  • Technical mindset - leverages market insights and emerging technology developments and trends to understand customer needs, as well as identify new opportunities or make adjustments to current product offerings


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
  • Healthcare insurance industry experience
  • Experience working with EMR systems
  • Intimate knowledge of data management/processing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook
  • Diplomatic with solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication with both technical and business audiences
  • Self-directed and able to drive detailed solutions to completion with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking by using appropriate information to diagnose problems, identify possible solutions and collaborate with impacted groups to drive decisions
  • Ability to effectively break down barriers to maintain progress on initiatives
  • Designer - ability to take an idea and articulate how it should work and work backwards from the ideal to simple, deliverable solutions that deliver value and progress the idea
  • Business mindset - ability to understand what's important to the business and constantly bring that lens into the design, prioritization, and execution of product features

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
