Optum Insight Analytics is seeking a skilled Technical Product Manager to be an integral part of cloud-based data warehousing and analytics initiatives for our Health systems/Provider clients. The candidate will be expected to work closely with Strategic Product Managers, Domain SMEs, business Analysts and Program Managers to define and manage the product roadmap. Candidate will be responsible for planning and supporting the execution of product roadmap into actionable capabilities, features and user stories. Candidate will also be expected to support program increment planning, backlog grooming and aligning the user stories with their corresponding sprint and release cycles.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive product and business planning processes across cross-functional teams
  • Analyze user/customer needs to develop future state analytic business intelligence solutions
  • Ability to translate product strategy and user needs into detailed requirements
  • Work with business partners to identify business need, project scope, perform feasibility analysis, and prioritize deliverables
  • Define the need and primary objectives, develop and document business requirements in partnership with the lead business analyst to ensure clients' needs are captured and delivered (e.g., use case-based Business Requirements Documents with evidence demonstrating competence writing unique, code-able, testable business requirements, user stories, Requirements Traceability Matrix)
  • Works with business to obtain voice of customer (VOC) and identify capabilities to add to the product
  • Defines and provides direction for user experience and user interface (if applicable to product)
  • Creates user documentation (if applicable to product)
  • Collaborate with Developers, Quality Assurance Analysts, Architects, Business Partners, and other Technology teams to ensure requirements and design are completely understood
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, product owners, business systems analysts and others to develop product roadmap
  • Assist in quality assurance and user acceptance testing by creating user stories related to the defects and mapping them to upcoming sprints.
  • Assist in managing communications to ensure stakeholders are informed of investment planning, changes, and execution progress across the program
  • Manage delivery and project plans in partnership with the program management team in line with agreed standards and/or Service Level Agreements
  • Identify opportunities and integrations with other process automation tools as appropriate (e.g., Rally, Aha, ALM)
  • Ensure that deliverables meet agreed-upon standards for quality and non-functional requirements, and that the products meet the stated business need
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of designers, business analysts, developers, testers, and others to build and execute against Product Roadmaps, Testing strategy and Release Plans
  • Own, prioritize, and maintain the Product Backlog, including definition of user stories and acceptance criteria, assess impact of defects including providing key input on decisions
  • Communicate progress, status, risks, and issues regularly to program management team, scrum master, business partners, and stakeholders. Problem solve issues and provide timely responses and solutions
  • Maintain accurate and detailed information within Aha, Rally and other reporting tools
  • Ability to translate product strategy and user needs into detailed requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of product management experience in cross-functional, agile product team
  • 4+ years of experience conducting and facilitating requirements gathering in a technical setting and performing business systems analysis or equivalent business process analysis
  • 4+ years of decomposing business requirements into features and user stories; and writing technical documentation to support solution delivery
  • 2+ years of experience working in Agile / SCRUM environment
  • Experience conducting system/data analysis for Datawarehouse, datamarts, reporting and/or analytics initiatives
  • Experience working within the SDLC in large complex programs
  • Experience leading/mentoring other individuals
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Aha! Jira, Rally, GitHub


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with SQL
  • Management consulting experience in Healthcare domain (preferably in the provider/health systems space)
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Detailed oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Solid facilitation, influencing, negotiating, and relationship building skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $97,300 to $176,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $97,300 to $176,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
