Data Platform is looking for a product manager to lead our analytics and reporting and machine learning products. In this role you will lead the direction of your product by setting the vision and strategy and partnering with engineering to drive execution. You will work closely with engineering, architecture, design, and internal and external customers while working on next-generation platform capabilities. You will provide consulting services to teams across the company that want to use our data and our analytics platforms. You will help us to develop groundbreaking capabilities to deliver data-driven insights to every product, engineering, and analyst team at Viasat!

Job Responsibilities

  • Understanding user needs and requirements for hundreds of software developers and data scientists who use our data platform as well as communicating those needs crisply and succinctly to technical and executive audiences
  • Working with geographically distributed engineering teams to translate those needs into clear priorities, a compelling roadmap, and high-impact platform capabilities
  • Owning dependencies across teams to ensure successful product launches
  • Ensure product health by balancing new features with maintenance and technical debt
  • Evangelizing the platform and developing relationships across our lines of business


Requirements

  • Understanding technologies like AWS, DBs, APIs, Presto, S3, Kubernetes, Spark, Tableau, Superset, and software development for sophisticated data driven systems
  • Experience with data science and engineering workflows
  • Understanding of product design, dependencies, and tradeoffs
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills that shine when you are talking with a customer, working with engineers, or engaging a multi-functional audience
  • Ability to multi-task and switch project priority based upon external factors
  • Proven experience in ability to clearly define product goals and metrics
  • Experience of going through a full product lifecycle, integrating customer feedback into product requirements, driving prioritization and pre/post-launch execution
  • Display strong leadership, organizational and execution skills


Preferences

  • Previous experience as a software developer
  • Experience with delivering large scale enterprise applications using big data open-source solutions such as Hadoop, Presto, Kubernetes, Spark, Kafka

The starting salary for this position is $166,600 annually, but an offered salary may be higher depending on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
