About the Role 

We’re looking for an experienced R&D leader who is excited about building the next generation of networking software. 

As the R&D leader of the Networking Product Line, you will be responsible for both the product strategy and execution of the HashiCorp networking products. The networking product line includes Consul (service mesh, API gateway, network infrastructure automation, etc) and has adjacency opportunities for related projects and products. Consul has been deployed widely in business critical, large scale environments and is core infrastructure underpinning hundreds of thousands of applications. 

Your goal is to maximize the impact of the overall networking product portfolio and lead both the product management and engineering teams responsible for delivering on the strategy. This includes driving open source usage and sustainably growing commercial revenue for both customer-managed and software-as-a-service delivery models. Excellent story-telling, communication and team-building skills are required to lead the team and collaborate effectively with organizational leaders in other functions. You will hire and lead the team, drive execution around a common vision, and mentor leaders to do their best work. You will work closely with product marketing to ensure a consistency of GTM positioning and messaging. You will partner with design to build products that deliver a world class user experience. You will work with functions in sales and support to understand and solve for the challenges of our existing customers and prospects.

The role will require experience leading large teams and working on a product line with significant revenue goals used in business critical customer environments.

• Influence and grow a strong product and engineering culture within the organization.
• Partner with marketing to enable GTM teams and ensure consistency of messaging and positioning.
• Collaborate with design teams to deliver world class user experiences.
• Work closely with various field organizations to ensure successful customer adoption.
• Communicate product group status to executive stakeholders.

You may be a good fit if you have:

• Experience leading product portfolios with $100m+ annual revenue
• Built and managed a team of 150+ engineers and product managers
• Deep passion for modern infrastructure/Cloud/SaaS practices 
• Understanding of traditional and cloud networking concepts and evolving ecosystem
• 10+ years leading teams of product managers and engineers
• Demonstrated track record of highly collaborative cross functional work
• Demonstrated track record of growth in complex and high growth organizations
• Strong technical acumen, with a solid understanding of the cloud market
• Experience with SaaS products required
• Experience working in a fully remote organization is preferred but not required (pre-pandemic, structured remote) 
• Experience with managing open source products preferred but not required
• Experience with deep product design collaboration preferred but not required
