About the Simulation group:

Simulation is building a platform to accelerate the development and testing of the entire AV technology stack for both hardware and software. We collaborate with teams like AV engineering, systems, and testing to deliver the tools that accelerate development and validation in order to quickly and safely launch new AV capabilities.

Achieving large-scale, commercial AV deployments fundamentally relies on having a powerful and accurate simulation that can test and verify AV behavior across a multitude of virtual driving scenarios without relying on extensive real-world testing and data collection. Developing truly driverless vehicles for ride-hail and goods delivery means Cruise will increasingly rely on Simulation for not just test and validation but also to uncover challenging driving scenarios that will accelerate the development of core AV technologies like Perception and Motion Planning. We’re at the forefront of AV technology development and serve as the biggest lever to transform AVs from a prototype into a real commercial product.

About the Senior PM role for Productivity and Experience:

Simulation PMs own the tools and experiences that enable AV engineers and testers across Cruise to develop and test key components of the AV technology stack. As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you’ll align Simulation and partner teams around a common vision for productivity and ease-of-use and turn that vision into reality. You’ll work closely with UX, engineering, testing, and program management to create the tools and workflows that satisfy the following:

  • Insightful - deeply understand the problems developers and testers face and lead efforts to determine what types of simulations to create and how users will create them
  • Throughput - enable users to quickly create, execute, and interpret the appropriate type and quantity of simulations in order to gather the most signal for the least amount of effort
  • Usability - maximize intuitiveness, user delight, and convenience for new and experienced users alike

You will develop and execute a product strategy that will be lean yet effective in meeting user needs. You will have a strong sense for prioritization, a passion for innovation, and a customer-centric approach to product management.

The Simulation Product Team is a new team that aims to bring a forward-looking and product-first approach to the AV development process. Join us and be one of the key members that will help craft the product culture for the Simulation team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Partner with UX and engineering leaders to define the vision and goals for creating, executing, and interpreting different types of simulations
  • Work closely with engineering and platform teams to deploy your products and features across Cruise in order to accelerate velocity and increase confidence for development and testing orgs
  • Develop and execute a high impact roadmap across all its surfaces and personas in close collaboration with partners, end-users, and senior leadership
  • Thorough understanding of the products under your leadership, able to justify and communicate decisions and prioritizations
  • Balance multiple goals and priorities that maximize customer value and user delight

What you must have:

  • 5+ proven years experience in tech-related fields
  • 3+ years of proven success leading highly technical products (simulation, data science, machine learning, computer vision, or robotics)
  • Proven technical aptitude with complex internal or developer tools
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Experience formulating and driving a focused product vision, and owning the narrative with leadership, users, and partners
  • A bias to action and bootstrapping major projects, never hesitant to roll up your sleeves and be hands on
  • Experience leading product development from zero to first release and beyond
  • Provide insight and deliver measurable results for sophisticated products under ambiguous situations in a fast-paced environment

Bonus points!

  • Product Leadership experience with autonomous vehicles or safety-critical systems
  • Experience in developer/tester tooling, infrastructure, or high fidelity simulation products
