About the Role
As a Product Manager on the Investments team, you'll get to work on one of the most novel use cases in the field of ML - using the combination of machine learning (ML) and econometrics to efficiently deploy capital. You will be responsible for the vision and roadmap for the state-of-the-art system that Uber uses to efficiently deploy a multi-billion dollar budget across marketplace pricing and incentive strategies. In this role, you'll work closely with Data Science, Engineering, Ops, Strategy, and Finance partners across Uber's businesses (Mobility & Delivery) and geographies.
Uber operates in a constantly evolving and competitive environment, across a diverse set of markets and product categories. Assessing the success or failure of a product or investment strategy depends on deeply understanding this context and quantifying the impact with thoughtfully defined success metrics. Doing this - and doing it well - at Uber's global scale is an interesting and complex problem with a massive potential impact for Uber. The Investments team applies its expertise in ML, statistical inference, econometrics, data analytics, and business strategy to build scalable technology platforms that drive our investment decisions in the marketplace.
What the Candidate Will Do:

  • Build a cutting-edge capital allocation system that uses ML to drive spend decisions across pricing and incentives strategies in the Uber marketplace.
  • Define the vision and roadmap for the Investments capital allocation system.
  • Distill the vision and strategy for the team to generate enthusiasm across cross-functional partners and executive leadership.
  • Partner closely with Data Science and Engineering to drive innovation, research, and planning of new features. Communicate product opportunities, challenges, plans, benefits, and results to the appropriate audience at the appropriate time.
  • Engage with Uber's mobility and delivery businesses to analyze business trends, campaign performance, and competitive insights. Collect whatever data and research insights are necessary to improve investment decisions and drive product iteration.
  • Maintain, monitor, and measure the performance of launched products and funnel learnings back into product development and innovation.
  • Execute rapidly while maintaining a Northstar aligned with Uber's mission and strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Product Management delivering successful and innovative products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience building and designing ML products and systems. You are comfortable with ML concepts and familiar with how ML systems work.
  • Strong business judgment; you are data-savvy, highly analytical, and understand the impact of business decisions on the P&L.
  • Exceptional communication and partner management skills, including with senior executives. You build high-trust relationships across verticals, functions, and geographies.
  • High standard for execution; you are able to effectively drive the roadmap for a large team of data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners.
  • Computer science undergraduate degree or equivalent plus hands-on software engineering experience.
