Department OverviewThe Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions' public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions’ Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world. Our services leverage Cloud Computing infrastructure on Azure to build at scale.
Job Description
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineering (CIE) team at Motorola Solutions is looking for a Product Manager who can own the strategy, roadmap, and project execution for a portfolio of Developer Lifecycle Tools. You will drive solutions that rapidly accelerate productivity, increase developer and DevOps efficiency, and ultimately drive faster time to market and revenue for the company. You’ll keep a keen eye on cost efficiency and build solutions to help engineering teams across the company use cloud resources in the most efficient way possible.
This is a strategic role with visibility to management across the Motorola Solutions company. You’ll work with engineering teams across North America, Europa, Asia and Australia and be the central point of contact for a large number of organizations. You will also need to have a keen sense of where the broader business is going and stay ahead of the curve. Excellent communication skills and organizational skills are a must for this role.
This is also a technical role which requires knowledge of CI/CD tools, cloud development environments on Azure and AWS (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub) and developer and deployment pipelines. While Product and Project Management experience is preferred, it is also a good role for someone currently in an Engineering role to transition to Product Management
Job Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for
Defining the vision, strategy and roadmap for Developer Lifecycle Tools at Motorola Solutions.
Working closely with engineering to execute on the defined vision and roadmap.
Understanding customer and partner requirements, creating functional specifications and working with engineering to architect and deliver the right solutions at the right time
Product ideation, development and launch activities.
Working closely with internal and external partners to understand what we need to build and prioritize based on business needs
Managing external cloud and software vendor relationships to align priorities and jointly plan roadmaps
Be the face of the team with executives around the company to showcase the value prop and progress against our goals.
Basic Qualifications
At least 5 years of Product Management or Engineering experience in the software and technology industry.
Experience deploying, managing or creating CI/CD solutions for engineering teams
Experience and technical knowledge Azure DevOps and/or GitHub
Experience in SaaS development and DevOps concepts
Experience using Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
Bachelor's Degree required (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related degree)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with external partners and vendors to make build vs. buy decisions, negotiate pricing and manage long term relationships
Experience in the Scrum Master or Product Owner role
Demonstrated ability to seek out opinions & build trust/buy-in across all functional teams.
Excellent communication and people skills
Experience as a software developer shipping SaaS or PaaS products in a modern DevOps environment
