The Job

We are looking for a motivated, experienced Senior Analyst to join our Product Analytics team. Using their keen product sense and analytical rigor, this person will partner with Product, Engineering, Data Platform, Product Science, Design, and Business Operations peers to identify opportunities to increase consumer engagement and improve the in-product user experience. This can take the form of deep dive analyses, feature experimentation, and self-serve analytics reporting for cross-functional teams. As an early member of the Analytics & Science team, this person will instill data-minded thinking with their product partners and help shape the Product Analytics and Analytics & Science team norms and culture.

The Daily

  • Contribute to high-priority workstreams within the CNN Digital Product organization - your work and product sense will help shape the direction of data products and analyses across CNN's core platforms and product areas
  • Develop strong relationships with peers and cross-functional teams to thoroughly understand the highest-impact business opportunities and influence the product roadmap
  • Scope and execute on significant bodies of work within your workstreams that ladders up to team- and company-level OKRs, and identify new areas of work that benefits the Product team
  • Work closely with stakeholders to define and deliver effective analytical solutions (self-service data platforms, dashboards, experimentation design)
  • Reinforce quality analyses and code, experimentation approaches, measurement framework, and reporting for your product area and across the team
  • Partner with the data platform and engineering team to continually iterate on the technical requirements, frameworks, tools, and processes supporting analytics in a way that benefits the company, the team, and the product


The Essentials

  • 5+ years of analytics experience with a Bachelors, advanced degree, or equivalent experience in a quantitative discipline
  • Expertise in SQL, Git, and R or Python
  • Proficiency in one or more visualization tools, such as Looker/Mixpanel/Tableau, and experience training others on tools to enable self-serve data exploration
  • Experience with A/B testing and experimentation methods
  • Strong communication skills, specifically around sharing actionable insights and recommendations
  • Product Analytics experience or experience in a news environment is a strong plus
  • Experience developing data products is a plus
