Senior Director, Product Management - Reimagine Finance

Our product team is part of a larger group focused on the transformation of Finance at Capital One. A key priority is creating automated reconciliation and accounting close processes to reduce manual work and enable associates to consume and leverage streaming, enriched data. This will involve streamlining overall financial experiences including our month end close process, reporting and data needs.

The Senior Director, Product Management - Reimagine Finance is a unique and high profile role that is responsible for discovering, delivering and optimizing products and capabilities that fundamentally transform how our Finance Associates work and enable us to deliver valuable insights using modernized technologies and core data services. In addition to your contributions on overall portfolio and product strategies, you’ll also play a key role in building our Product Management organization. You’ll help shape our culture and our people, provide mentorship for your teammates and be an ambassador for Product Management and for the On Demand Finance Transformation team. 

As the Sr Director, Product Management, you will:

  • Establish the vision, strategy, and execution of Finance products and services through understanding of the strategic Finance direction and technology architecture and big picture business needs.

  • Create frameworks for and directly manage the prioritization of the work, capabilities, components, and infrastructures that are used by multiple customer solutions and customer facing products.

  • Confidently communicate and evangelize product and portfolio strategy across large organizations and executives to influence stakeholders to align behind the objectives

  • Create and provide frameworks for regularly and systematically using data to uncover opportunities, track product performance, and drive decision making

  • Prioritize, negotiate and remove blockers to orchestrate successful launch or optimization cycles

  • Inspire, enable and empower teams to execute with a sense of urgency to deliver solutions and on priorities

  • Influence cross-department agendas proactively to deliver outcomes while balancing short and long term objectives

  • Serve as a thought leader, contributing practitioner, career guide, and mentor to your teams 

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience in and passion for ideating, building and implementing great digital products

  • Experience in organizational change management including transforming and improving ways of working and interaction models

  • Deep knowledge of the Product Management discipline and experience in building and maturing Product teams

  • Strong ability to set a vision and lead, develop and inspire teams to develop innovative products that have high adoption and drive value for internal customers

  • Exceptional communication skills -- an engaging storyteller at ease presenting to executives

  • Creative problem solver who provides leadership at the intersection of the human, business and technology dimensions.

  • Blend of both strategic and tactical thinking -- someone who can identify and prioritize opportunities in highly ambiguous contexts, and then organize work in deep detail; aligning long term vision with iterative execution

  • Aptitude to champion strategic technology initiatives to leap-frog current constraints and deliver transformational value

  • Strong quantitative background to support data-informed decision making

  • Collaborative, team player attitude with the ability to navigate and influence the organization

  • Superior problem-solving skills with strong strategic, white-spacing thinking 

  • Inspiring people leader

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 8 years of product management, analytics or strategy consulting experience

  • At least 6 years of experience managing people

  • At least 5 years of experience building and leading cross-functional product teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering 

  • Data and Product Management background

  • 5+ years of Agile Product Management experience
