Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for a Test Automation Quality Engineer to join our Pet Health Tech team based in Minneapolis, MN. The ideal candidate is more than just your average manual UI tester. You will identify strategies on how to not only use software as it is intended to be used, but attempt to break the software as it is not intended to be used. You are passionate about quality and you have the ability to create, maintain and execute test plans in order to verify requirements. You have experience with UI and Services testing, which will require a good depth and breadth of technical knowledge.

What you'll do:

  • While working within an Agile environment, you will work with Developers, Product Managers and Designers to identify proper and effective testing strategies, beginning in the planning phases of a feature
  • Analyze technical and business requirements to develop high quality test cases with a focus on requirements coverage across all platforms
  • Work with multiple other teams to understand the full end-to-end workflows/scenarios so that you can effectively design a comprehensive automation test suite
  • Develop automated test cases in multiple technology stacks (Java, Scala, Python, Javascript and others)
  • Have working knowledge in one or more Test Automation Frameworks (TAF), for example Cucumber, Selenium Framework, OpenTest, etc. or other test frameworks like PyTest
  • Create test tools and frameworks for automated testing
  • Create performance and load tests (with Gatling) and be able to analyze bottlenecks
  • Use static and dynamic code assessment tools to review code quality (including code coverage)
  • Perform test execution and report high quality, repeatable defect reports using JIRA
  • Monitor existing defects and bring them to closure
  • Play a major role in championing the importance in quality improvement across all areas of the SDLC
  • Analyze test results and understand the root cause of defects

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (MIS or CS preferred) or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years demonstrated software development experience in automated testing or application development
  • 3-5 years experience in Quality Engineering with experience in UI, API, Database and backend testing
  • Experience in an Agile Testing environment
  • SQL experience
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge in Test Case Management Software, like TestRail, TestLink, XRAY, TestFLO, Testpad, experience on any one of those is a plus
  • Ability to learn quickly and multitask
  • Position may require travel

Bonus:

  • Experience with Atlassian suite of tools (JIRA, Confluence, Slack)
  • Java experience
