ABOUT THE TEAM

Hallmark's Prototype Studio is a corporate resource that works closely with key internal business partners with a strategic focus on 2D and 3D prototypes. Our team supports product development and innovation efforts through the exploration, prototyping, feasibility testing, and short run manufacturing required to advance Hallmark's product leadership and provide competitive advantages in winning new business.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Product Prototyping Manager leads and implements key deliverables in support of strategic initiatives by driving the development of new manufacturing capabilities and raising awareness of new and existing capabilities to product design and manufacturing leaders. Essential responsibilities include:

  • Support of product development through consultation, prototyping and production of greeting card and retail products while leading the effective execution of these projects through all areas of the Prototype Studio. This includes the management of our equipment and facilities.
  • Leadership of the Prototype Studio' personnel. Management of studio staff (5-15 full and part time). Understanding of the unique skills required to operate the studio's specialized equipment. Managing project prioritization and mentoring to team. Fostering a positive work environment that is focused on results, employee and team development and a spirit of collaboration. Fully leveraging existing talent, resourcing flexible staffing and collaborating with external partners.
  • Creating 3D renderings, models or simulations for product, processes or merchandising. This requires working closely with the requesting client(s) to ensure the concepts are accurately represented and within the purview of existing and potential technologies. Production of physical samples for these concepts through additive and/or subtractive manufacturing.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following is required to be considered for this role:

  • Bachelors Degree or 4 years of professional work experience
  • People leadership, mangement, or mentorship/coaching experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Advanced manufacturing, 3D modeling/printing/scanning, CNC milling/routing, plasma cutting, laser cutting, lithography reproduction and various print processes (ie: screenprinting, foil stamp, thermography, emboss)
  • Experience in 3D digital modeling programs (ie: SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, Solid Edge)
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume and portfolio/application will stand out if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, industrial design, advanced manufacturing, commercial printing, or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of people leadership or management experience
  • Proficiency and passion for leveraging 3D digital applications; learning aptitude to stay on top of technology enhancements and opportunities.
  • Proven ability to handle many projects at once by reallocating all available resources necessary to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience operating lithography reproduction equipment and advanced manufacturing equipment/software.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing business partners or clients.
  • Strong communication, organization and project management skills, including the demonstrated ability to communicate & coordinate effectively across multiple functions and employee and leadership levels.

This position is located on site at Hallmark's headquarters in Kansas City, MO.
