Want to be part of a company that frees you to innovate and implement your powerful ideas, as you help build the future of cybersecurity? Since 2012, CRITICALSTART has helped protect thousands of businesses from cyberattacks, prepared them for tomorrow’s threats, and racked up a long list of awards in the process.

We live and breathe innovation, not bureaucracy. CRITICALSTART built the first MOBILESOC app for on-the-go threat detection and response, developed a way to automatically resolve most security alerts, and created services to reduce the time spent investigating alerts by 99.3% (analysts really love us for that).

We’re employee owned, and everything we do centers on three fundamental beliefs: Do what’s right for our customers. Do what’s right for our employees. Don’t do things that suck. Really, that’s it.

If you’d rather hear from our Critical Crew, watch this video to learn their thoughts. Read our Glassdoor reviews and you will see another inside view. (Pssst…Want to really catch our attention when you submit your resume? Include something about our Glassdoor reviews that spoke to you.)

What can we offer you?

Daily chances to save the world. Or at least save our customers from attacks and breaches.

Plenty of other smart, talented, high-performing people to work with. We each take accountability, make each other better, and love what we do.

A “they’re good, we’re better” approach to transform our industry and not settle for good enough. Lots of other cybersecurity companies hire good people. Aren’t you better than just good?

New things to learn, innovations to unlock, and a supportive, collaborative environment.

Lots of industry recognition. So much, it’s almost embarrassing. Almost.

Equity-stake ownership in our company, plus lots more benefits you’ll read about below.

We couldn’t say it better than one of our teammates: "Every day is a challenge and there is so much opportunity for professional development. …your role directly contributes to the larger purpose of the company, and the sense of belonging and culture are unmatched.”

Who you are?

Ideally you are a Security Engineer or a Security Analyst that has performed a significant number of investigations using Security Tools for about 2-5 years and are ready to use those skills to help with the development of products with our engineering team! You are an expert in a few tools and talking about a port scan doesn’t bother you the least bit. You are willing and able to demonstrate your skills during the interview process because it is fun.

You understand RESTful APIs and aren’t afraid to break out Postman/Insomnia to try things out. Just for fun you have written Bash, Python, Perl scripts because having to click the same buttons over and over bothered you! You are enthusiastic about learning new tools as a user and getting your hands dirty.

You are an incredibly self-driven individual who doesn’t wait for instructions on what to do next.

You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field. In-lieu of this, you bring a certificate such as the OSCP and a couple of years of experience.

What you will be doing?

  • Break down a somewhat defined problem into requirements needed for a successful outcome handling the ambiguity that comes with growth mode.
  • Write or improve requirements for product deliverables including the scope & acceptance criteria (the what) and the business need driving them (the why).
  • Coordinate with the engineering team to drive development.
  • Perform and enable User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Monitor the release with different Stakeholders to ensure successful production deployment and usage.
  • Drive end user training for newly developed features. We have two types of users generally (a) Internal Users – our SOC, Sales Engineering Teams, Customer Success, Customer Support etc., (b) External Users. You’ll be mostly focused on Internal Users.
  • Track and manage bugs reported within the product adding an assessment of impact and reach for proper prioritization.

  • You'll do this by:

  • Being clear in your verbal and written communications.
  • Collaborating with a global team across multiple time zones in an agile development environment.
  • Knowing when and how to ask for help.
  • Using data wherever possible; measuring results to confirm success.

What you will bring?

  • 2-5 years of Cybersecurity Experience, bachelor’s or master’s degree or relevant certification such as OSCP/CISSP.
  • You should be very familiar with investigating alerts from one of the following products: EDR/EPP, SIEM or E-mail.
  • Clear and organized communication skills both speaking and writing.
  • An understanding of cloud-based products and architecture; we are heavily API driven, so reviewing JSON and REST syntax will be a daily occurrence.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new technical concepts and skills.
