WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

As the Product Owner you are a member of a highly collaborative product development team which develops new software functionality for customers. You will be tasked with leading the development effort by communicating the vision to the team, outlining, and prioritizing the work in the backlog, and communicating progress, roadblocks, and overall project value to internal and external stakeholders.

Additionally, you should be able to clearly communicate the project vision at the beginning of every release so that the team understands, feels connected to the work, and is fully equipped to deliver. You will fulfill all the project management responsibilities, including removing impediments for the development team, facilitating team meetings, researching/triaging defects and feature requests assigned to the team, and enforcing the overall SDLC processes

Principal Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Translate and break down high-level product vision items from Product Management into actionable user stories and technical tasks for the Development team
  • Facilitate the software development process, including:
    • Run team stand-up meetings
    • Coordinate and lead product review meetings
    • Lead retrospective meetings
    • Prepare and lead user story prep meetings
    • Facilitate the estimation of user stories
    • Track Velocity and Team Burndown charts
  • Ensure a maintained and prioritized backlog of user stories
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input throughout the creative process for the work of your teammates
  • Conceptualize new and improved user interfaces
  • Present complex sets of data in ways that are easy to comprehend
  • Present at internal and external conferences and meetings
  • Support Sales and other stakeholders as needed with the new feature functionality
  • Prioritize and Triage Feature Requests and Defects that get assigned to the team
  • Documentation and other release activities for the current release



Position Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Knowledge of software development processes and best practices
  • Ability to translate high-level customer requirements into epics and user stories
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with past successes in working across organizations to implement large-scale projects
  • Exceptional customer focus. Client-focused attitude - a customer advocate
  • Good presentation skills for communication with internal and external customers
  • Strong written documentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance multiple ongoing responsibilities and appropriately communicate issues a must
  • Experience with web-based software applications
  • At least 5 years' experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred
  • Travel 10-20%

  • You are highly collaborative: Members of the Development, Support, and Product Management teams all feel like you are a go-to person for questions and ideas about the application. You initiate collaborative design sessions with product and engineering teams to ensure the design meets the business requirements and is technically feasible and able to be delivered in a timely manner.
  • You are a master communicator: You can talk tech with the Dev team, make PowerPoint presentations for sales conferences, and write detailed specs and user stories crafted for their intended audiences.
  • You are user-focused: You understand our users and work to ensure their needs continue to be met. You visit our clients and immerse yourself in their problems and challenges. You know the product well enough to present different options as to how the software is able fulfill the users' needs and requirements.
  • You are passionate: You are the chief advocate for the software product, have a deep understanding of its capabilities, understand the "why's" behind the engineering behind it, and are constantly looking for ways to drive it forward and make it even better.
