About the job
The Red Hat Networking Services Engineering team is looking for a Product Owner passionate about networking to join us. In this role, you will serve as a liaison between the cross-functional engineering team and the stakeholders. You will own and continuously adjust the product delivery team backlog to react to both short-term business needs and the long-term vision for aspects related to Linux engineering networking, which includes projects like Software Defined Networking, IP Security, Core Linux Networking, Firewalling and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system management tools. As a Product Owner, you will be a member of the RHEL Engineering team responsible for understanding and helping to convey inputs from product management, RHEL program and engineering management, and support and upstream communities to the team. This is a great opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest developers and stakeholders in the open source industry. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Collaborate closely with identified stakeholders to capture new feature requirements and overall priorities, organize requirements refinements into well defined features and epics
  • Participate in splitting of features and epics into stories or tasks with the team, define acceptance criteria and ensure that the team understands the tasks
  • Ensure that the team's understanding of offering goals is sufficient for the team to work effectively and with the correct focus
  • Ensure the timely delivery of key information by acting as an information radiator to the teams and stakeholder
  • Manage the planning around initiatives and strategy goals
  • Proactively monitor upstream and downstream communication channels and serve as an advocate for the team


What you will bring

  • Understanding of Networking Technologies like overlays, bridging, switching, networking protocols, e.g., user datagram protocol (UDP), transmission control protocol (TCP), network interface cards (NICs), firewalls, and network management
  • Understanding and experience with agile methodologies and principles
  • Experience with product ownership or project management
  • 3+ years of experience working in a software development environment
  • Solid communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Proactive and engaged
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English
  • Experience with Jira, Bugzilla, GitHub, GitLab, or similar is a plus
