An exciting Product Owner opportunity is available in the newly formed Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO)! The CDAO's vision is that we will enable Vanguard to be a data-driven organization by building a data culture and ecosystem that drives business outcomes using data, analytics, and AI/ML at scale while adhering to our privacy obligations to protect our client's information. The CDAO is driving initiatives in the Insights pillar of our Enterprise Technology Strategy (ETS).

Protecting sensitive and personally identifiable data is a critical data management capability. Vanguard needs a reliable, robust, and scalable solution that implements this protection on both structured and unstructured data in our data lake. An enterprise solution must be explored to ensure that Vanguard is not subject to financial (loss of clients), regulatory (Privacy) and reputational (data breaches) risks.

The Product Owner will lead partner with key areas including Governance and Privacy to identify priority use cases, lead a workshop on which anonymization technique is best for our use cases and define an implementation strategy. The Product owner will manage and support of an onshore/offshore product team, understand the challenges of clients and key stakeholders, and ensure solutions are aligned with Key Objectives and Results (OKRs). The Product Owner will also translate the team's vision into an actionable delivery plan and lead the execution of the delivery plan, articulating the impact of choices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO), business and IT stakeholders to reduce risk by modernizing the process to align data usage and access for analytics across the Enterprise.
  • Serves as authority supporting discussions with internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Works in partnership with leadership and architects to drive and facilitate best in class solutions.
  • Ensures solutions are aligned to enterprise vision and goals.
  • Oversees the scrum team on day-to-day operations of priorities and problem resolution. Coordinates project schedules, assignments and work flows.
  • Coaches the scrum team towards best practices and learnings.
  • Employs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to continually improve the process.
  • Participates and influences ongoing business planning and departmental prioritization activities.
  • Performs other duties and participates in special projects as assigned.



Core Responsibilities:

  • Leads technical product management activities for multiple technical products, or one strategic technical product, with cross-divisional impact. Drives the design and continuous improvement of the technical solution.
  • Influences and collaborates with cross-functional teams to create best practices that drive significant change to the client experience. Ensures business outcomes are linked to business case drivers.
  • Coaches technical product teams towards best practices and learnings. Oversees product teams' support of the messaging, communication, and customer outreach as necessary.
  • Facilitates strong business support through working with team members to promote a consistent approach to decisions/impacts and client propositions. Drives connection across all appropriate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leads the planning, development and implementation of new technical products with cross-divisional impact. Defines and analyzes technical markets, developing detailed product features and requirements, and developing implementation plans.
  • Influences and employs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to continually improve the user experience.
  • Participates in and influences ongoing business planning and departmental prioritization activities.
  • Drives the team's engineering practices in development, continuous integration, and automated deployment.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


Desired Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
  • 5 or more years' work experience, including 2+ years of leading large cross-functional/cross-regional teams on major organizational projects.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or Certified Scrum Professional Product Owner (CSP-PO) certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and executing Agile principles with strong digital and technical skills.
  • Experience with integrating data management capabilities in an AWS environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results while working in cross-functional environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, highly detail-oriented, strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment and continue to raise the bar on quality.
  • Demonstrated experience and deep understanding of user experience best practices.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering practical solutions in a complex and fast paced environment.


Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required. Graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight years related business experience. Three years of leading large cross-functional teams on major organizational projects preferred
