Summary

The technology product management team owns the delivery of external customer facing and internal WFS products. The team comprises of commercial and product owners that work together and partner closely with relevant business owners in taking products from initial ideas, through refinement, to an established vision, strategic roadmap, delivery execution and ongoing production usage. The product manager will have responsibility for a portfolio of related and/or independent products. This role will directly guide various IT delivery teams or squads (including business analysts, quality assurance analysts, solution architects, software developers, user experience/UI design specialists, etc.) utilizing the agile methodology to enable development of state-of-the-art digital products, drive efficient delivery, and monitor delivery performance.

Success in this role hinges on the ability to understand customer needs, provide innovative and high-quality solutions, and to collaborate seamlessly across a highly matrixed organization with various teams focused on different departmental goals. While this role is primarily execution-focused, it also requires a strategic and analytical mindset and effective ongoing engagement with business leadership and stakeholders. This role provides visibility to customers and product end users, as well as frequent updates with executive leadership. The product manager will have autonomy to manage challenging requirements, with support whenever required from the rest of the technology product management and business leadership teams.

A successful candidate will be self-driven and possess strong communication, facilitation, and influencing skills. The candidate will balance short-term and long-term opportunities, while promoting customer value within their product area and across the overall technology ecosystem. The product manager will be results-driven and will consistently maintain a high say-do ratio (getting things done!).

Key Responsibilities

  • Owns the development of the product offering:
    • Understands / shapes the product vision and strategy.
    • Takes feedback from business stakeholders in determining what is required in the product.
    • Drives end user engagement throughout product delivery and enhancements.
    • Has overall ownership of the product backlog.
    • Has the authority to add and remove items and reprioritize stories that are not yet committed to an iteration.
    • Defines acceptance criteria for each solution requirement.
    • Helps team to understand and refine the backlog requirements.
    • Is available to the squad during the iteration to clarify queries relating to requirement delivery.
    • Accepts completed requirements during the iteration.
    • Leads the Iteration Demo/Showcase.
    • Supports development of training material with support from the squad.
    • Manages launch and end user change management efforts.
    • Provides ongoing leadership updates to the Commercial, Business, and Chief Product Owner.
  • Translates desired customer experiences into clearly defined product requirements.
  • Creates and maintains an optimized and logically sequenced roadmap.
  • Manages prioritization and trade-offs to ensure delivery of the maximum customer value.
  • Identifies and fills product gaps; generates new ideas that grow market share, improves customer experience and drive growth.
  • Works closely with support teams to understand risk and pain points, and to set expectations on timelines for fixes and enhancements.
  • Meets regularly with end users to understand unique use cases and to solve dynamic and complex needs.
  • Utilizes key performance indicators (KPI's) to measure the product performance and customer satisfaction.



Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience.
  • Must be a self-starter, a team player and driven.
  • Comfortable working in a virtual environment across globally dispersed teams.
  • Outstanding written/oral, organizational, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong passion for technology and process improvement.
  • Comfortable with custom web technologies and off-the-shelf solutions.
  • Proven track record launching high-value products, managing customer interaction, while managing competing priorities.
  • Technology delivery and/or product management experience.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or MBA or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Business acumen and instinct with strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Experience leading projects that meet aggressive goals and deadlines.
  • Strong persuasion skills and ability to gain buy-in to a common vision.
  • Experience in Aviation or Marine industry.
