Product Manager

Position Overview

Take this opportunity to be part of a team building industry leading software for automotive and industrial design! In the Automotive and Conceptual Design Group at Autodesk, our goal is to provide industry leading software for the entire design process from concept to production surfacing. The main products we ship to customers in this space are Alias, CreateVR, VRED, SketchBook and Shotgun for Design Studios.

For our customers, any product development starts with an idea. As a product manager for concept design, you help our customer to express their ideas digitally, whether it is with digital sketching or conceptual workflows in xR. You drive the reimagination of 2D and 3D workflows running on any device from mobile to latest AR headsets, inspiring the next generation of digital creatives.

In this role, you will work as a product manager for concept design. You are going to be exposed to many areas of product management, the connected software development processes, and a huge opportunity to learn and grow. There are opportunities to explore areas such as future strategic customer requirements in the conceptual design space as well as driving thought leadership and innovation as part of an international team. You will gain the satisfaction of working on cutting edge technology that can have a huge impact on how designers work in the future.

Responsibilities

Leadership, Vision, Roadmaps

  • Define workflows and drive/contribute to the roadmap for major tools and pipelines in the conceptual design space - in collaboration with the experience design and development team as well as central partners
  • Comfortable working with a diverse group of product managers and designers
  • Participate in team strategic and operational planning
  • Keep aware of global industry trends in concept design and latest technologies in the industries we serve and present to appropriate stakeholders on a regular, recurring basis
  • Maintain close relationships with customers and users, to understand their needs, challenges, and frustration to help drive optimal acceptance of our solutions


Communication

  • Tell the story of conceptual design and the connected ecosystem while differentiating products from competitive offerings
  • Manage expectations with internal stakeholders and customers
  • Inform key product stakeholders including company leadership of current and emerging market trends and representative customer feedback
  • Identify, create, maintain, and leverage key relationships in target industries to enhance product awareness and adoption
  • Connect with key industry thought leaders, including industry specialists, research analysts, press, and other influential parties


Market Analysis

  • Coordinate with product support, key accounts, and industry leaders to identify market needs and articulate customer feedback to product teams
  • Identify opportunities and define urgent and pervasive product requirements for targeted market segments
  • Identify competitive offerings and assess their strengths and weaknesses
  • Directly engage with our communities on a variety of ways to guide the voice and conversations



Minimum qualification

  • Highly motivated, disciplined, and self-directed with a commitment to excellence
  • 5+ years of industry experience in automotive and/or product design or a related qualification, ideally with a focus on the conceptual phase
  • 3+ years of experience in product management
  • Exceptional planning, facilitation, dependency management, risk management & analysis skills
  • Ability to execute and manage performance and expectations within a cross-functional, matrix management environment
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills with an ability to state things simply and persuasively for a variety of audiences - internal, external, business and technical
  • Ability to communicate well to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent presentation skills and ease in speaking in front of large groups.
  • BA degree in design, computer science or business administration or equivalent diploma
  • Strong understanding of game development frameworks and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of feature film development and pipelines.
  • Experience working on a diverse team of product managers, designers and/or engineers
  • Ability to foster a strong community with an emphasis on high performance and guaranteed delivery
  • Ability to adapt to changing pace and strategic decisions
  • A strong grasp of competitor's products, their strengths, weaknesses, and target markets



Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of the conceptual design space, ideally digital sketching, and conceptual design workflows in xR
  • Familiarity with Scrum/Agile/ Lean Startup methodologies. Experience working in a rapid prototyping environment a plus.
  • Preference for collaborative work within an agile practice as a member of a multi-discipline team.
