A DAY IN THE LIFE:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Product Manager (PM) role in Technical Product Management is a cross-functional leader within the organization and the primary owner and expert of the associated product lines and related portfolios. This role leads the product planning, management, and development initiatives to provide users with best-in-class products and experiences. The PM serves as the primary interface with all functional areas within the organization as well as external strategic partners for respective products, balancing time to market with product quality and effectiveness. The PM works to identify, create and execute product plans and initiatives focused on driving increased engagement, efficiencies, and sales growth throughout the organization.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drives the product development process from concept to launch by identifying market requirements and customer needs through gathering of voice of customer (VOC) information and creating the vision for our multi-generational product roadmap.
  • Translates VOC insights into product requirements that deliver growth for assigned products.
  • Participates in defining the product strategy while considering market factors.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with R&D, Technology & Digital Health, Program Management, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Operations, Commercial Marketing and Sales to lead to timely product development and product commercialization.
  • Supports external partners on business development opportunities related to Diabetes and other therapies.
  • Assists in the management of partnerships with external organizations to synchronize product development and product availability as it relates mobile application integrations.
  • Works closely with industry and clinical Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Represents the company and product category during medical conferences, sales meetings, and customer visits.
  • Functions as the internal champion for the product category and as the primary field contact for all mobile application related questions.
  • Provides thought leadership in segmentation, positioning, and customer targeting with Marketing and Marketing Communications.
  • Monitors competitive activity, market drivers, and external constraints and provides pertinent updates to management.
  • Acts as internal and external champion of assigned product line(s).
  • Develops, maintains, and grows relationships with key customers and key opinion leaders.
  • Communicates with management on product performance issues or market changes.
  • Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities.
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Skilled in translating market research into product and customer requirements.
  • Proven ability to determine product requirements and implement them through product development and market positioning.
  • Proven ability to set strategic and tactical direction for the product line.
  • Knowledge and insight into the market, reimbursement, competition and other internal and external factors.
  • Knowledge and insight into the mobile device, app and device, and related categories
  • Skilled at clearly conveying in-depth knowledge to all levels within, and outside of, the organization.
  • Skilled at creating a cooperative team environment.
  • Able to objectively evaluate situations and make recommendations for changes in light of project demands.
  • Experience with Agile Software Development Methodology is a plus.



Minimum certifications/educational level:

  • BS/BA degree business, health sciences, or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.



Minimum experience:

  • 5 years of related experience in medical device development process, product management, marketing, sales, or clinical support.
  • Experience in diabetes and/or consumer medical devices preferred.



JOB SCOPE:

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions; determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Works on issues of diverse scope which require evaluation of a variety of factors and an understanding of functional area objectives and trends.
  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may add to costs and impact the short-term goals of the organization.
