GENERAL SUMMARY:

Directs a comprehensive product strategy from product conception and definition through end of life. Functions as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, quality, test, marketing, and distribution as the product(s) and/or product line(s) move through their lifecycle. Formulates and executes long-term roadmaps for cost/profit control. Promotes use of new technologies and industry-leading trends. Directs those involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of a specific product or group of products. Involvement lasts throughout all stages of a product's lifecycle including modifications, upgrades, and maintenance of the product or product line.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Working with sensor vendors on their roadmap and ensure their products align with QC requirement
  • Support sensor vendors on the access to Qualcomm sensor tools and systems and ensure all legal agreements are in place for all the access
  • Create new/updated sensor tools in the system and work with sensors engineering team to release the sensor tool for sensor vendors to use
  • Define requirements for the sensors HDK and ensure all software and tools align with the HW, for all new Qualcomm SOC's that are supported through HDK's
  • Ensure Plan of Record (POR) sensor vendors are aware of the SW driver requirements including the driver delivery date and support the communication between QC engineer and POR vendor POC. Escalate as needed
  • Explore new ISV partners and introduce our ISV program to these vendors
  • Introduce PVL, POR, and ISV program to all partners
  • Working with appropriate teams on the chipset roadmap planning, which include the roadmap for different tiers and different BU
  • Promote sensor IP to internal teams, appropriate partners and customers
  • Identify new sensor features with customers and drive the feature to be include in the sensor roadmap. This includes full feature definition and prioritization amongst features.
  • Understand customer's roadmap and sensor requirements in order to have the right technology and support in QC chips that meet customer's expectations
  • Coordinate with internal team on adjacent BU Sensors support and requirements
  • Working independently with little supervision.
  • Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
  • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
  • Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).
  • Completing tasks that do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is generally required to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.
  • Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.
  • Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.
  • Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
  • The responsibilities of this role do not include:
  • Financial accountability (e.g., does not involve budgeting responsibility).



PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts complex analyses to assess marketability of products based on market, customer, technology, and other ecosystem demands.
  • Creates a business case for the development of a new product or product features in an established product area (i.e., time to market, cost, market share).
  • Markets new and complex products and technologies through technical marketing opportunities such as conferences, congresses, and direct customer contact and drives product launch efforts.
  • Prepares and delivers highly complex technical presentations for new and existing products that explain and demonstrate products managed to customers.
  • Contributes to the creation of a differentiated product roadmap in an established product area, promotes it within team, and ensures all team members understand the product roadmap.
  • Directs the development of complex products and services with minimal supervision and communicates with individuals across functional teams.
  • Completes product development and definition activities for a moderately complex, owned product, including determination of cost and impact, and interacts with sales team to generate forecasts.
  • Maintains expertise by staying up to date on competitors, technological advances, and the product ecosystem and takes the lead on development and design innovation of products in an established area to articulate differentiation of products to customers and identify trends.
  • Communicates regularly within own team and cross-functional team(s) to ensure team-level understanding of product plans for a product line.
  • Ensures successful cross-functional collaboration by ensuring that agreed upon KPIs and specifications are met for product(s), upon delivery by engineering team.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and program sponsors to develop product goals (e.g., performance, cost, timeline, customer schedules), discuss product feasibility, and facilitate cross-functional decision making for products they own.

This also includes the ability to get things done with fewer resources and in less time, work on multiple tasks at once without losing track, and foresee and plan around obstacles.
  • Product Management - The ability to direct a comprehensive product strategy from product conception and definition through end of life. This includes the ability to function as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, quality, test, marketing, and distribution as the product(s) and/or product line(s) move through their lifecycle.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
  • 4+ years Product Management or related work experience.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years Product Management or related work experience.
  • 2+ years working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
  • 2+ years negotiating 3rd party business agreements.
  • 2+ years working in a large matrixed organization.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
  • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
  • Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
  • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.



**Location preference is San Diego but also open to Santa Clara as well**
