ROLE OVERVIEW
Benchling’s Registry and Inventory products help our customers define, track, store, and manage the bioentities they use in their day to day processes. This team’s mission is to enable customers to easily input and accurately represent their processes as structured data, whether it be intaking thousands of bioentities, pooling samples, or enabling bioentitiy restrictions. This structured data is the core of our customer’s business and is a vital input to many of Benchling’s products.
We’re looking for a Product Manager to lead the expansion and evolution of our Registry and Inventory products. In this role, it will be your job to inspire and influence your team, as well as internal teams at Benchling, to solve our customer’s most pressing challenges and successfully bring them to market.
YOUR IMPACT
- Partner with and obsess over our customers, constantly refining your understanding of their needs, how we can make them more productive, and the market opportunities they represent.
- Develop a deep understanding of the Benchling product, including its strengths and weaknesses, that is informed by Benchling’s capabilities and our customers’ core jobs to be done.
- Define the Registry & Inventory product roadmap alongside your product development team (i.e. engineers, designers, data analysts, and user researchers).
- Partner with strategy, sales, and marketing to successfully bring new products to market.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED
- You will create strong, collaborative relationships across the business that are built fundamentally on trust and communication, which will enable you to move extremely quickly while maintaining alignment. This will be true not only across engineering, product, and design, but also with our go-to-market teams across Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and more.
- Beyond practicing empathy with our customers, you will rigorously fill in gaps of your own subject matter expertise to intimately understand their needs within fast-changing and technically complex fields of biotechnology and chemistry.
- You will measure the impact of your team and work by defining success metrics, tracking progress, and adapting your plans based on insights from that data.
- You will have a drive to question assumptions, validate hypotheses, and manage trade-offs, obsessing over getting the product details right while still knowing how to ship on time.
ABOUT YOU
- You have 3+ years as a product manager (or similar role) working on digital products where you have successfully brought products to market.
- Ideally, you have experience building SaaS products.
- You thrive in the challenge of distilling clarity and focus from ambiguity and complexity, and are a strong problem solver that can gather, prioritize, and drive execution on customer and business requirements, turning them into successful business outcomes.
- You possess influential leadership and interpersonal skills that enable you to build strong cross functional relationships.
- You have a growth mindset, and are able to change your mind and readily admit mistakes. You ask for and give direct feedback.
