About the role:

The Product Manager is a leader, an analyst, a technologist, a visionary, and an influencer. Each Product Manager is accountable for the vision, development, commercialization, and overall success of their products. They are responsible for management and oversight throughout the product lifecycle, from ideation to end-of-life. This accountability extends to all applicable business channels, industry verticals, and geographic markets where the product is made available. The successful candidate will be comfortable working closely with internal parties from many facets of the business, such as manufacturing, sourcing, engineering, senior executives, sales organizations, and vertical leaders. They must also be able to engage with external parties, like business & channel partners, industry leaders, and end-customers

Successful incumbents in this role are well positioned for career progression in marketing and/or general management at CPI.

About the team:

The product team for our connectivity products consists of a small group of product managers and product owners located at multiple CPI sites in North America and Europe. The team also works on a daily basis with cross-functional teams that include other product managers/owners, business analysts, engineers, software developers, testers, and professional services colleagues in a variety of roles.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Product Management

  • Lifecycle management - Own and lead product(s) across business channels from inception, through introduction, to end-of-life.
  • Develop a product vision and translate it into a prioritized product roadmap for future development of each assigned product.
  • Drive product growth, market share and profitability.
  • Exceed customer satisfaction goals - quality, lead-time, delivered value.
  • Prioritize, justify and manage customer-led product enhancements/investments.
  • Drive resolution of customer satisfaction issues.
  • Lead and maintain competitive product analysis for assigned products.
  • Define and prioritize engineering product support activities.
  • Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities.
  • Perform continuous competitive/market analysis of current and/or planned products and how they fit their intended market(s).
  • Execute on roadmap investment plans to facilitate new product development.
  • Gather business and marketing requirements in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop requirements documentation, share and influence stakeholders to gain buy-in throughout the business.
  • Work side-by-side with engineering to ensure product development are tightly aligned to documented requirements and satisfactorily meet customer/industry needs.
  • Deliver new product launch programs that increase market share and improve our competitive position.


Product Strategy and Execution

  • Develop and maintain market-leading product roadmaps/strategies linked to vertical and business strategies.
  • Develop profitable market segmentation, definition, and market sizing.
  • Develop segmentation requirements and willingness to pay, resulting in strong product strategy with outstanding financial outcomes
  • Design and execute VoC activities that result in differentiable and quantifiable value elements critical to customers and clear market requirements
  • Develop strong business cases that support product investments aligned to strategy.
  • Lead product positioning linked to clear understanding of competitive offerings and value.
  • Develop and execute market leading new product launch
  • Lead customer feedback/VoC activities and articulate market requirements to Engineering and the business via the market requirement document
  • Arrange and host product demos & showcases to sales and other customer-facing teams to help drive awareness of product benefits, features, and value proposition.


Product Pricing

  • Develop strong market and market segment based pricing strategies based on delivered customer value relative to customer's next best alternative.
  • Develop, apply, and implement value pricing tools.
  • Develop value calculators that simplify the complex.


Customer Relationship Management

  • Communicate value in customer-centric terms that influence the customer to choose CPI solutions based on value delivered.
  • Provide meaningful analysis on the business implications of customer needs.
  • Drive value propositions into compelling customer pitches that result in customer orders.



Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • MBA or equivalent post-grad professional qualifications preferred.
  • Strong business or finance experience in a B2B environment is required.
  • Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of practical product management or product marketing experience.
  • Experience with device hardware or software solutions covering any combination of wireless, electronic payment acceptance, IoT, cellular technology or unattended point of sale applications is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of payments, payment security and credit card processing or vending industry knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with the Atlassian suite (e.g., Jira, Confluence) is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on P&L responsibility is a plus.
