Your impact

Handshake is hiring a Product Manager reporting to the VP of Product. You will PM-lead the Spaces squad, one of two squads on the Live Connections team. The team owns the events and scheduling surface area across all three sides of our marketplace: students, employers and EDUs.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Product Manager of the Attendance squad to jointly develop and execute a roadmap for the Live Connections team. The team has multiple goals, including 1) driving revenue from our premium events product offering for employers 2) fostering a vibrant selection of career fairs and events for students to participate in both in person and virtually 3) helping students, EDUs and employers get the most out of events, especially through continuing connections afterwards.

In addition to working with engineers, designers, user researchers and analysts, you’ll also collaborate closely outside of R&D with product marketing, sales and customer success. All the while, you’ll be mindful about making positive societal impact, including improving diversity, equity and inclusion in early talent recruiting.

Your role

As a product manager, you’ll plan and deliver a roadmap to:  

  • Expand and innovate: improve existing events and career fairs, explore new types of events, seamlessly integrate 1:1 meetings into marketplace touchpoints

  • Engage users: whether they are students, employer users or EDU partner users

  • Drive marketplace value: continually strive to identify and optimize the key points of value creation across all three sides of the network

You’ll own the lifecycle end-to-end for your product area, including:

  • Product development process: Leading a high performing cross-functional squad, including engineering and design partners, from research and roadmap planning to delivery 

  • Launch and adoption: Partner closely on go-to-market and implementation. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on. It’s never someone else’s problem. You’ll run beta programs and pilots to maximize learning and minimize code investment, getting close to the customer and the details through the process. 

  • Cross-Handshake partnership: Work with stakeholders across Handshake to innovate quickly but deliberately

  • Goals, metrics and tracking: Create a robust and clear thread of data from strategy through development through in-market iteration.

Your experience

  • Strong foundation in roadmap development and releasing products for complex, multifaceted marketplace businesses or SaaS platforms.

  • 3+ years partnering with engineering teams to ship code. Ideally in a many-stakeholder environment with dependencies and collaboration. 

  • Strong systems and analytical thinker. Can connect the dots, spot challenges and edge cases, integrate multiple considerations.

  • Extensive experience presenting both internally and externally including working with customers, users, and internal cross-functional partners and executives.

  • Working knowledge of SaaS products including solving for more than one user persona.

  • Experience working at a consumer marketplace, ideally a B2B2C marketplace like Handshake

  • User focused. You dive headfirst into understanding the needs of employers and build products grounded in data and research.

Compensation range

  • $130,000-$160,000 

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
