Role Summary
Magna New Mobility is a startup inside Magna International, a mobility technology company and one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world.
We are seeking an experienced Product Leader to play a key role in developing a new business line for autonomous and industrial mobile robot products and services. You will ultimately have P&L responsibility.
As a Product Line Director for autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and industrial mobile robots (IMR), you will play a central role in shaping our product strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring the successful development and commercial launch of our business. You will be responsible for understanding customer needs, defining product requirements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional products that meet market demands.
This role can be based in any of our 3 North America offices, Lowell, MA, Troy, MI, or Aurora, ON. #LI-Hybrid
Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy: Set the vision and execute a comprehensive product roadmap for the autonomous mobile robot (AMR) and industrial mobile robot (IMR) segment, aligning with the company's long-term goals and growth targets.
  • Market Research: Conduct thorough market research to identify industry trends, customer pain points, and competitive landscape. Use insights to inform product roadmap and decision-making with ultimate responsibility of P&L.
  • Product Planning and Development: Collaborate with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to define product requirements, features, and specifications. Manage the entire product development lifecycle and ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Customer Focus: Deeply understand customer needs and pain points in the autonomous robot market. Conduct customer interviews, gather feedback, and translate it into actionable product improvements.
  • Financial Acumen and Timing: Understand strategic time and place for investment in marketing, operations, and product improvements balanced with aggressive scale and milestone achievement
  • Competitive Analysis: Keep a close eye on market trends and competitors' offerings. Evaluate market gaps, identify opportunities for differentiation, and propose strategies to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and operations teams to ensure successful product launches, effective go-to-market strategies, and seamless product integration within customer environments.
  • Product Communication: Develop clear and compelling product positioning, value propositions, and messaging. Create product collateral such as product briefs, datasheets, and presentations to support sales and marketing efforts.
  • Product Launch and Adoption: Drive successful product launches, ensuring effective product training and support materials are provided to both internal teams and customers. Monitor product adoption and collect feedback to continuously improve the offering.


Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or Equivalent Experience in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree is an asset.
  • Proven experience as a Product Line Director and 10 years of experience in the robotics or automation industry, specifically in autonomous robots or similar technology as it relates to industrial applications.
  • Strong understanding of the autonomous robot market, including competition, customer needs, and key industry trends.
  • Founder experience in related industries is a plus or experience in B2B and enterprise sales companies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to gather and analyze market and customer insights to inform product decisions.
  • Consistent track record of building successful products and high caliber teams from the ground up, ideally in current role
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional teams towards common goals and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in managing a P&L center with a strong background in creating & assessing financial models.
  • Motivated by making an industry impact, and building something new at a fast pace and large scale
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Travel as required - up to 30%
