Howmet Aerospace is searching for a Product Integrity Engineer to join our Howmet Wheel Systems (HWS) business unit in Cleveland, OH.

Job Dimensions:

  • The principal focus of this position is to perform data analytics on Forged Aluminum Wheels before shipment to customer and during its lifetime in the field.
    • Product Integrity
      • Track and develop year in service metrics for product field performance
      • Analyze warranty trends and regularly communicate with field service, product design, program launch, die design, process engineering, quality, and R&D
      • As part of the cross functional team, support the root cause analysis on projects resulting from product data analysis
      • Provide close loop feedback to design engineers to develop future designs with focus on warranty mitigation
      • Monitor manufacturing scrap and provide analysis to functional departments to drive improvements
      • Work with product validation to develop new test methods



  • The secondary focus of the role is to rotate in adjacent disciplines to learn the skills that will provide in depth understanding of the product life cycle.
    • Product Design Engineering
      • Design, Finite Element Analysis, and print creation of Heavy, Medium, and Light-Duty wheels using 3D CAD and Finite Element Analysis toolsets.
      • Supporting the Advanced Quality Planning Process throughout product development and providing DFMEA & DVP (&R) support on new and revised wheel programs.
      • Ensuring all design standards and technical requirements are adhered to throughout the design process.
    • R&D
      • Manage the R&D project from conception to prototype, and implementation when required. Experience in the use of project management tools, such as Microsoft Project. Provide product samples, coordinate, or conduct necessary tests to the prove concept, develop supporting business case, and prepare process documentation.
      • Identifying potential new technologies that can add value to the business.
    • Program Management
      • Manage the global product launch process for specified programs to ensure accurate, timely and cost-effective product launches.
      • Manage Gantt charts for assigned projects.
      • Manage product and process development and qualifications for specified programs at all locations globally.



Environment, Health & Safety Requirements:

  • This position is within the Product Engineering and Quality department and provides technical support to the global HWS organization for the development of new designs, technology, processes and products, and continuous improvement to reduce manufacturing costs and improve the marketability of the product.
  • The incumbent communicates continually with the Product Engineering and Quality department staff, production, process engineering, quality assurance personnel in all global manufacturing sites.
  • Internal contacts include the technical department staff, production, process engineering, supply chain, quality assurance, sales, and marketing personnel. External contacts are with other Howmet Wheel Systems locations including outside university contacts, technical consultants, and outside suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Engineering/Data Analytics focused internship or work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the following programs: CAD software (SolidWorks or similar)
  • Experience in creating Gantt chart / timeline
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
